Carrie (1976) the funny part was when Carrie got goes on the rag for the first time and her zealot freak mother is worried about damnation in hell for all eternity. Scary part was at the end of the flick when the good girl Sue (Army Irving) was carrying some flowers to the site where Carrie White’s house used to be before it burned straight into hell. The music is playing softly and it seems like it is the end of the movie… peeps are getting up and leaving the theater… and just as good girl Sue lays the pretty flowers down a bloody hand pops out from the burnt ground. The entire theater shit their pants and empty popcorn buckets are flying all over the place.

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness (1987) confirms that a swirling green cylinder of doom is indeed VERY SCARY!

The killer rat pack movies, Willard (1971) and Ben (1972) were really creepy.

Some of the old movies were the best.

Mothman was fukin awful. The actual myth of the Mothman is interesting, but that POS movie is unwatchable.

It should be buried in an undisclosed location in the desert, next to the E.T. video game and the Macintosh Lisa.

"Buckets of Blood" and old b/w movie had a part about a cat insdie a wall, a knife stuck in the wall, and blood. It's been almost 50 years and here I am still talking about it

Arachnophobia, the promo on cable tv the other day. To many spiders at one time.

On a more serious note....

Guinea Pig 2:Flowers of Flesh and Blood -45 minutes of a woman being decapitated slowly by a bloke dressed as a ninja. Not nasty, nastiest. Ever. Not particulary scary, but a nice test of how desensitized you are.

Irreversible-The "fire extinguisher meets mans head many times" scene is still the most brutal scene ever commited to film. And the extra long extra nasty rape scene is horrifying. Scary.

Suicide Circle-54 schoolgirls+train=messy.

Ichi the Killer-The coolest and most violent film ever. All in one. Essential.

Men behind the Sun-Get it and be challenged. Its about experiments the japanese conducted during the war on human subjects. Real autopsys, cat vs lots of rats, the "frostbite" scene. Unmatched for its grimness.

Urm, none of those are very scary, except Flowers of Flesh and Blood. Which is the most extreme film you could ever watch.

But they are all films that i like. And all japanese in origin.
I like to be challenged, not scared. And the images contained within these films are scary on a level so-called "horror" films cannot match.

That is all.

K, next up we have the Legend of Boggy Creek.

An early 70's docudrama about a Bigfoot that roams the land around Fouke, Arkansas. Now I haven't seen this since I was about 9 years old, but it scared the living shit out of me. To an amply impressionable kid, seeing this was like watching a 60 Minutes investigative piece.

although the film itself wasn't scary i did find the ending to the blair witch project pretty unsettling.

also the end of jeepers creepers where that thing is sitting there in front of the sewing machine and the songs playing in the background..totally freaked me out!

I have been looking for Boggy Creek. When I was kid that movie scared the crap out of me because I thought it was real. I would like to see it again just to see how awful it really was.

As far as 'shocking' and 'violent', try Salo - 120 Days of Sodom

I'd rather stick with the illusion that we had a baby that didn't make it than have treasured photos to remind the whole family that we produced a chocolate sausage frog monkey. -- azron
