Wierd movie. You'll see what I mean if you watch it.
I believe the LBP would give this movie an A+.

I saw it, didnt hate it.
I think Bill has fallen into these "character study" type films of late (Coffee and Cigarettes, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, etc , they are not bad, but I'd love to see him rip out a Caddyshack/Ghostbusters/Stripes performance.

I definitely thought it was good, but more like a B+ Bill Murray does almost too good a job at playing self-absorbed assholes, Owen Wilson didn't make me want to re-break his nose, and Willem Defoe was surprisingly funny. Wes Anderson makes some weird movies. |

I think Bill is at his best with these character study rolls. Give him a fuck3d up character he can play totally deadpan and I think nobody can do it better. The movie was wierd for the sake of being wierd but I liked it. Another good charcater roll for him was playing Dr. Hunter S. Thompson in "where the buffalo roam". Rumor has it his time hanging with Thompson in prep for the roll really changed him.
As for Bill pulling out another slap stick role...I'm thinking he might be a little old for it.
By the way did you know he actually surfs? I happened to be out in Folley beach NC surfing with some friend who live up there and they pointed him out in the lineup. Just added cool points for me.

He was really the only reason Coffee and Cigarettes was worth watching. Everyone else seemed bored and off.

LOL - Ghost, the cool points are awarded to Bill not me. I hear Chris is a pretty good surfer but that bastard doesn't need any more cool points after that Cruel Game video. If anyone here says they never had their hand in their pants at some point while that was playing you are teh ghey.

Seriously? The movie sucked. Very weak for Wes Anderson.
Yeah, I do like his movies but this one was terrible. It tried too hard to be like all his other movies. This shit is worn out.

I keep holding off seeing that but I figure I should finally get around to it. Worth seeing? I noticed Gza was in it (right?) which excited me. |

Very boring.
Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, the White Stripes, Steven Wright, and yes, GZA, with RZA AKA "Bawbbi Digito"... boring. I can't explain it. I haven't seen a lot of Jarmusch movies, but I suspect the problem wasn't the talent but the writing. I couldn't wait for it to be over and basically sat there until I got to the Bill Murray part, which kind of made it all worth it, then turned it off.

Coffee and Cigarettes...bad. Boring. Bad.
Set design was cool at times. Classy shooting, sorta. But it was like a improv show where nobody knows what to say. In fact, I think thats what happened.
