The 1980's phucking rawked. One of the best things about the 80's was the movies. I remember being a kid and when you knew there was going to be a Part 4 of Friday the 13th, it was the biggest deal on the planet - to me. But the biggest treat is when my parents decided to take the four of us kids to a drive-in movie.
The speakers/tuning into the channel on your radio, the huge screen, the snack-shop all burned in my brain as the all american movie going experience. Until they ripped every damn outdoor theatre down in the mid 80's in my area.

Anways, what movies do you remember seeing at the drivein, if any?

1. Back to The Future 1
2. The Last Star Fighter
3. Breakdancing
4. Electric Boogaloo

Everything else is a distant memory

Part of the problems with drive-ins is that I DON'T remember the movie. We still have a big swap meet in town that has 10 screens of Drive-ins right in the middle of the ghetto. I think the last thing I went to see there was Vanilla Sky.

You know, I don't think I ever went to a single drive-in? My super-Catholic paternal family in Texas would take me to the local church movie thing on weekends, though, when I was there for the summer. Disney flicks. Outside in the grass with a bunch of other kids. It was rad.

Bandera. I was only there for summers. It's about an hour from San Antonio, I think? Let's see if this works for anyone else.

We still had drive-ins situated in bad parts of town in the early 90’s.

Going on a date to the drive in required a boy with a thump-thump stereo. I remember seeing one of the Terminator movies and Die Hard in a rice burner with a boyfriend. And I remember blowing out his speakers when something exploded.

Fuk yes. There is no such thing as decent Mexican food up here. To recognize and replicate good Mexican food, you have to have first had it, which basically means living around Mexicans who are cooking for each other and not for Whitey.

To wit: b0bo took his wife to a place called Jalapenos for their 5th anniversary. I went there. It was a step above Taco Bell. Swear to god.

But then, b0bo's always been a bit of a jew.

We're from San Antonio, my big brother moved to Wyoming and constantly bemoaned the condition of local Mexican food. We shipped him some ingredients and a tortilla press or some such contraption.

Do you have any luck cooking good Mexican food? How do you support your burrito habbit?

the girls there like losing there tops for any reason! We had a similar situation when I went to SWT in San Marcos. Right off the river, there was a park in the middle of campus where all the chicks would "sun bathe" every day. There wasn't a day that went past without me seeing SOME chicks tatas. :sigh: i fucking miss central texas. Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels = TEH WINNAR

When eye was a kid, drive-ins played X-rated movies on the weekends (easily seen from the road) lived next to one and would jump the fence during summer. Saw Conan the barbarian, Poseiden Adventure, Towering inferno and Weird Science as first run, drive-in movies.

Here is the western/southern part of Colorado the mexican food is everywhere. Taco Bell is nothing like the east coast, they sell actual Taco Burgers there. Mexican food here is about all you will see in the restaraunts. But we do also have some of the best rocky Mountain BBQ steaks/ribs that I have ever had.

I miss seafood.

Floating down a lazy river on an innertube, tied to an ice chest and several of your friends. Memories. 6 hours of lazy drifting, beer drinking and peeing on yourself in the water. Broken sparsely with bouts of sheer panic when you drunkenly navigate a set of rapids and scrape your ass on a jagged rock. I fondly recall boys with super soakers filled with hurricanes and shooting your gullet when you floated past. I don’t recall having to pay for my soaker-shot with a boob shot but I suppose it wasn’t out of the question.

My first Drive-in Movie?
The Black Hole, and JAson vs, The Argonauts

We have a decent drive-in here, it is my favorite method of watching movies, with smokes and beer (sneaked in).

Is the screen so big that you can't see it all?
When you wear hawt 3d glasses to view a film do you actually feel like you're in 3d?

We still have at least one drive in around. Last movie I went to see there was MIB2. The good one that used to show the porn is now a wreck that people use for atv riding and is slated to become a bus depot.

Dark Crystal scares the hell out of my 4 year old.

Naturally I play it often.

Augra was the creepiest, the way she grunts and squeals when she squats makes my skin crawl.

Hooray! Austin sucks if you don't got a car and/or don't drinking connections if you're underage.

We still have one drive-in but I haven't been for years. Used to go once a week when I was a teenager but that was more for sex than the movie. Every one had vans with lift up back windows and drop down tailgates like a pick-up,matress in back, so they were all parked in the slot backwards and you would lie in the back with your girl(s) and catch glimpses of the movie between fucks. In summer the back window was left open for ventilation ( and exhibitionism). Those were the days.

Earliest memory is of Disneys Sorcerers Apprentice at about age three with my parents, all done up in my pyjamas and dressing gown and sleeping all the way home. ( the broomstick scene scared me shitless. ( This is actually my earliest memory period.)

The movie title is Fantasia, Mickey Mouse and classical music I think.

There’s one that’s still open one town over from me. During the day there is a flee market in the lot and at night they show movies. The most recent movie I saw there was a double feature of Kill Bill 2 and Starsky & Hutch. Why those two movies were together, I don’t know but half of the experience was great.

That movie was ahead of its time.

And it was definitely not your typical Disney flick. In that way, it's like Dragonslayer. Much more serious, with some really groundbreaking visuals.
