Is this what alphas do, work like migrate vegetable pickers?
I wondered how Vas could maintain such a monster site all by his lonesome. NOW I SEE.
When a regular swarmer submits a link, and there's 509 links ahead of it in the queue, does this mean regulars have to wait for alphas to wade through and approve/reject those 509 links queued? |

No, you boob. Stuff goes into the Alpha Queue on a link-by-link basis.
If it's old hat or kinda dumb to me, but I'm not sure if the community at large is going to feel the same; if it's a repeat but it's still pretty good, I toss it in the AQ to get a little democratic decision-making on it.
It's not a responsibility; it's an Alpha privilege. You get some say in which links go up and which don't. If you consider it work, feel free to ignore it.

I was just being a boob, I am staggered by how much work you must do in a day. If we approve, what 30% of what goes up?

Yeah, I've never seen that many links in the queue. I think Vas's screening system thins out the herd to a manageable amount before the alphas even get to vote. I think it was our erstwhile Alpha brother BigBadAl who said the links we vote on are "vetted for goodness."
Glad to have you aboard, Heather. We need more double-Xers in teh Swarm.

Yeah, let's aim up for a 95% rejection rate this year.

Which reminds me, Vas....can you list the current Alpha members, since there's been a run on new Alpha accounts in the past couple of weeks?

Better yet, start a thread and take Alpha attendance.
I'd list them but some people have funny ideas about privacy.
Keep in mind there are a few Betas around.

I really like that chance to vote for or against links. It makes my ego stiffen.

Heather: being an alpha is like a undertaking great adventure into the mist-shrouded unknown of the intrenet. You are privy to great secrets and to the mysteries of the Inner Sanctum. |
