Mac is Sucking the meep of Computing
Now, I got this from slashdot, but if you haven't read it yet, give it a go. It basically says how the new hyperthreading technology is doing some amazing new things for performance in PCs. Mac is dropping the ball and is falling way behind. Sorry iMac peoples.

EGBG Direct Marketing Counterscript
Telemarketers make use of a telescript - a guideline for a telephone conversation. This script creates an imbalance in the conversation between the marketer and the consumer. It is this imbalance, most of all, that makes telemarketing successful. The EGBG Counterscript attempts to redress that balance.

Hack it!
I just ordered a Dell Inspiron 4100. 1Ghz PIII, 256 ram, 20 gig HD, DVD, ATI 16 meg video, WinXP Home. Just normal meep, nothing spectacular. I'm wondering a few things. First, how practical or feasible would it be for me to expect to be able to ditch my desktop system and go completely mobile? Anyone have experience with nix or bsd-based OS's on this series of systems? How difficult is it to set up a wireless lan? I know most of these questions I'll be able to answer once I finally get the meep thing, but I'm antsy, and I've never owned a laptop before. I'd like to get out of the upgrade rut that seems to plague my desktop existence, but I can't seem to break myself of the "hunger" I get when new meep comes out. One of the ways I can see doing this would be to ditch the desktop all together and go with solely a laptop (and my pda), but I don't want to regret it a few months down the road. Anyone ever been in a similar situation? :D

I'm placing this under Technology because I'd like to begin a dialogue as to how we can best remotely terminate David Hasselhoff's career -- and, as a bonus, his life, assuming we can get away with it. I think robots may be a good way.
I found this over on Kuro5hin and thought it was interesting: an account of one guy's project to build a small PC that was quieter than 20dBA -- as loud as a whisper from 5 feet away.

'This product will greatly accelerate adoption and use of handhelds in the enterprise,- said Ian Blasch, CEO, Tiqit Computers. 'It uses standard operating systems - Windows XP, Linux or UNIX - and is compatible with all associated applications, including legacy software. Almost anything you can do on a laptop or PC, you can do on eightythree - only it is smaller and more mobile.-
what is anyone using for p2p? Morpheus preview as stated by Vasudeva is sucking meep, and I never liked Bearshare or audiogalaxy.
I am looking at getting a PDA, what do you guys think? Right now, I am eyeing down the compaq ipaq 3835 and the HP jornado 568. Both seem to pack a punch and have nice color deals, but I am also considering the release of the intel xscale into the mix. That might prove to be something worth waiting for. 206 mHz vs. 400mHz. My main goal with this sucker is so that I can upload photos with it on the fly. Basically, I want to port a digital camera to one of these suckers and then take the images and upload them to a site via cell modem. So... my question is, should I just wait and put it all into the xscale and see what compaq does with that technology? Might be my best bet.
