A Photo Tour Of Bell Labs - In the 60's
In the late '60's I worked for Bell Labs for a few years managing a data center and developing an ultra high speed information retrieval system. It was the days of beehive hair on the women and big mainframe computers. One day I took a camera to work and shot the pictures below.

The Paris Metro and the service it provides are deeply intertwined into the fabric of the city. As the 4.5 million Parisians who ride it every day will probably attest it's the quickest way around whether it's for work, for play or both. The metro's distinctive art-nouveau style is unmistakable and the plant like green wrought iron entrances topped with the orange orbs and Metropolitan signage designed by Hector Guimard which sprout up all over the city lead one down to the gleaming white tiled platforms to be whisked away all over the city. On my first trip to Paris I arrived into Gare du Nord and entered the dense maze that is the metro. Despite the crowds, the noise and the distinct odour of meep, I was in love. The kind of love which inspires one to risk life, limb and deportation to get up close and personal.
I just got back from a 2.5 month stint in japan and vietnam. I thought i'd share a selection of pics from vietnam with you guys. If you're already a "friend" of mine on facebook, you can check out a few more there if you haven't already.

not that I'd be arrested or anything like that for snooping around this meep hole, but there's some odd stuff in abandoned old places.
I took a walk downtown tonight and took a few shots. I haven't been out shooting at night since early last summer so it was nice to get back into it. I'm a bit rusty but I'll get some good shot this summer.
I've been out again with my camera, this time to one of the many open pit mining operations near to my house. plan on doing some more along these lines but have to dodge the security vans, sheer drops from crumbling ledges and blasting in the active quarries. something to pass the time I guess.
Forum: Grand Teton National Park
last august we took a trip to the grand teton and yellowstone national parks with some friends from slc. on the highway in idaho we saw an 'idaho potato museum' sign and were like 'should we?... yes'.
Forum: Moab Vacation: Arches and Canyonlands
two weeks ago my wife and i spent a week in moab, ut for vacation. a couple years ago we went to zion and loved it, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to go to moab. we also have friends that have relocated to slc, so that's convenient. not planning on becoming lds, though...
So...I got a DSLR, bought a couple of used lenses and am now trying to learn the wicked art of photography (don't worry, I'm still into guns too).
I seem to remember vas saying somewhere he'd love it if swarmers posted their "art" up on LS for the world to see, guess he's going to rue the day now.
A recent day trip to Moab. It was a pristine friggin' day for photography:
I hiked down Mill Creek today. I found this...
To continue meepging up the forums with "creative" stuff, here's the culmination of my effort into making my version of $1000 dollar lens using a 1 dollar/pound sink plunger and an old second hand defunct lens. plus, once you've cut the handle off the plunger you get an excellent meep plug.
I'm going hiking tomorrow so I'll get you those comparison shots you asked for. Here's a sharpness example though. I'll update this later with the 18-55 and natural light on various subjects.
Forum: Black River Valley Hike
I took a hike into some local state land and wandered up and down a few tributaries of the Black River. I think these are the best shots I managed to get.
been messing with a home-made macro/close-up lens, thought i'd foolishly share a few of the first shots here knowing there's at least a couple of people who are into these things here.

Forum: Some of my recent Pictures...
so it's been a while since i added anything to the photostream. i'm still mostly into auto's, but there are some others sprinkled in along the way. as you can see, i'm into VW's, so the majority of my subjects are of the volks variety.

Some pics of my new basement office as it takes shape.
I just took some shots of my studio and figured i'd share.
Mount Garfield
Here is some fartpudding for the swarm.
It's that time of year. We've been looking forward to this since the fan expo film last year. I drove up to Canada last weekend, and then Steel and Kahuna and I drove up to Toronto to take in the freakshow. (I brought up the terrible shirts I had made, and they turned out to be not so bad, though I'm still making more. I didn't give any away. Will post about that elsewhere.)
I decided to go for a ride to nowhere this weekend and ended up in a place called Gold Point. Its considered a ghost town even though theres a grand total of 27 people that live there. From what I read, as far as ghost towns go, this one is pretty well preserved. I will probably head back in the near future earlier in the day so the lighting is a little better and get some shots of the actual residences that aren't falling in on themselves. The whole time I was strolling around not a soul was in sight. You would have figured with a population of 27 I may have grabbed someones attention.
This is here in town where I live - beautiful country. This canyon surrounds half of the valley that was formed by the Colorado and Gunnison river.
I went to the Santa Monica Pier today with my roommate and his girlfriend. Here's a few pics...
rather than clutter up my journal entry with more meep, i've decided to move this to the forums.
Forum: Dent's Amatuer Photostream
I love close-up photography, and zooming in on nature intrigues me. I took all these comps with a Canon PhotoShot S3 IS (Digital).

Just some of my mostest bestest photos
Hello. I spend a lot of time kayaking in Northern Florida's springfed waterways, exploring, and trying to find more undisturbed springs and rivers. I usually bring a camera with me and take pictures. I am by no means a technical photographer. I try to just focus more on getting to the exceptional places and hoping for the best. All of these photos were taken in rivers of north-central Florida, which has the highest concentration of artesian springs in the world. (so I've been told) At any rate, I think its important to note that none of these pictures have been altered in any way and the color is as it was. The fresh water really looks this vibrant and clear. I have tons of em, but here are a just a few.

Forum: Backpacking Around Peru
I went backpacking through Peru May 19th - June 3rd this year. I figured I would share some of the photos I managed to snag along the way. Most of them were on the fly with no setup and on Full auto. So some aren't as crisp as they can be I guess
Alright, so I wasn't on long enough to get Vas's message so I could be first in here. It doesn't matter, just want to publicly thank him for accepting the idea and others for kicking in so soon.
FYI: Linkswarm uploader did not work for me.
This alleyway is in the Mission District in San Francisco, and is covered with murals from end to end.
Forum: Various photos of mine.
so i'm into auto photography, mostly. a few shots of my old car 2004.5 jetta gli, and my latest a 2002 passat wagon. also threw in some other random light captures.
I dabbled in HDR last year.
