coolhand77's journal: Death in the workplace
So Thursday I was sitting at my desk at work when I hear one of my co-workers yell out "What the fuk dude, no!" and I look up to see him take off running. Another employee, his cousin, ran after him. They took off into the back of the shop. The rest of us who were around figured it was about to turn into a fist fight and took off after them to break it up. We work in an old dairy building, and it's a big one. The guys had a pretty good head start through the back of the shop so we ran through the front area into the print shop to cut them off. Just in time to see the guy who was doing the chasing shoot the other one. He got T in the arm and then in the back, and when T fell down, his cousin kept shooting and just emptied out on him. We tackled shooter and stuck him on the ground to wait for cops while others started grabbing t-shirts to try to stop the bleeding, although you could tell from looking at the back of his head he wasn't going to make it. He had a pulse for maybe 30 seconds and just died. I've worked with both of them for a little over 8 years and I considered both friends, although I was much closer with the one who died. We hung out outside of work all the time, and he was one of the most stand up guys in the world. He had everything going for him and just got it snuffed out. That was Thursday, this is Tuesday, and I still can't close my eyes without seeing/hearing this replay in my head. Have any swarmers had to deal with violence/death at work? How did you make the crazy stop and just get back to normal?

Part 1: Vic is my favorite bartender at my favorite bar. He's a little, old, short Irish guy that will knock the meep out of anyone who happens to be annoying him. He always has the best jokes, the best comebacks to any zing that gets thrown at him, he has the coolest accent in town, and everybody who goes to this bar considers him a really great friend.
