acheron's journal: Two gun shots ring out in the night

Last night, as I was chilling with some people at my place, we heard two gun shots and a couple of minutes later, sirens. This morning there was caution tape around the bottom of the hill where I live. My landlord told me a student and her child were both shot and found in the road, about 150 yards from where I live. Lovely.

Lately, political analysts are full of talk about Social Security. For a very long time, I didn't care. I don't know much about the program. I'm a college student and certainly not thinking much about it. But concerns are being raised, mainly from liberal and moderate commentators who claim that this so-called "crisis" is being manufactured by the PR industry. Paul Krugman, economist at Stanford and NYT columnist has been harping on it for a long time.
