Which one of you asshats suggested that some kind of tai-kwon-leap is more appropriate for self defense than a gun?

My home defenses are a bit awful, but I do not own a gun. Suffice it to say, one would not wish to be an invader with bad intent. I am, after all, first, and foremost, a curious and inquisitive chemist & scientist, and have always wanted to see what certain caustics and toxins will do to large mammals.

But I'm just a handyman with some solvents and tools.

I'm glad it wasn't a couple of 14yo kids poking around.

I think yer thinking of the time you said that you need to keep guns on the basis of self defense and I argued that for some people judo constitutes self defense and it's the only form of self defense they rely on. That was before I came to understand that living in a country full of desperately homicidal meep-jobs like you do requires a different set of standards from what the rest of the civilized world regards as reasonable. I conceeded the argument to your better understanding of your own culture, if I recall correctly.

i don't think anyone can seriously suggest that what this guy did was "self defense."

That's an opportunistic execution of someone guilty of at most burglary. If you want to honestly suggest its cool to shoot someone for burglary when you don't feel physically threatened, I supposed its fine to have an opinion. Just call it like it is though - and it ain't self defense.

People who shoot at noises probably shouldn't own a gun.

At the age of 92, I will give this man some leeway as far as waiting for him to come out. Given the number of old people beaten up by burglars these days, he did right. If he gave him the chance to get one hit in, that would probably have been the end of it, and him.

He didn't shoot at a noise, he waited for whatever was making the noise to come up the stairs and open the door. I don't know for sure because we don't have them, but I wouldn't think a 'meep would do that.

He could have just laid down a field of ... oh, never mind.
