It seems that he did all his early reading on only one side of the aisle. A good dose of Marx and Tolstoy could have helped to balance his outlook somewhat, but his privileged up-bringing certainly didn't help.

I agree that it would have been unfortunate for you ... had you read it.
Had you read it, you would not be so confused about it; despite how awfully it was written, the message is anything but "it's totally ok to be a meepbag."
Unless you're one of those whose sense of entitlement is so strong that you think that the meepbags are those who say "no" to "gimme".
The actual message of the awfully written tale is that "it's totally ok to let meepbags suffer the consequences of being meepbags; it's ok to say 'no' to meepbags, because meepbags aren't entitled to your charity--no matter how much they think that they are."
