Obviously, I would not feel 'better' if he killed those people without using guns. The point is that he could not have killed them at all without guns, and military-style weapons in particular. You do not get a very effective spray of bullets from a single-shot hunting rifle or a nine-millimetre pistol. It is also a lot harder to hit targets from the hip.

These people are not going to spend the time required to become good shots, and those that do (as this one did) try to join gun clubs or gain access to ranges etc., to improve there skills, will most likely start to wave some sort of red flag that indicates their status as a screwball. If they can only access weapons with small capacity magazines and a requirement that you actually aim the thing at what you are trying to kill, then last Friday night would not happen. It is only the easy availability of military-class, fully automatic assault rifles and sub-machine guns with large-capacity magazines that make these events possible.

So then, would you submit to a physical and psychological check-up as well as drug testing every 6 months to maintain your gun permits?
