Not the same as self inflicted...from what I've read/been told by people in the business, hesitation marks are almost inevitable. Self-infliction makes your limbs bounce, if nothing else, and there is obvious "skipping" that is not usually present in a homicide. Someone has to be near the point of lack of physical control to cut their own throat in a single try with a chainsaw. Hard, steady, straight, five or more seconds. Reflexes fight that meep, and very hard. Takes a lot or liquor, drugs, or determination to override those nerves.
