... at the very end of the tube era. The mathematics of circuit design with tubes is WAY simpler than for solid state because they are controlled by voltage instead of current. There are a few audio purists out there who still greatly prefer the hum of a tube to the hiss of a transistor.

Did a short stint working on tube amps. I thought anything that uses a strap of leather for a circuit board couldn't be that difficult to repair. They are easy to work on, but the art is in making them sound right. I realized you need to know electronics and play guitar to be a good amp tech.
So much for that, only thing I play is the radio.
