Last night, high-profile Google engineer Steve Yegge mistakenly posted a long rant about working at Amazon and Google's own issues with creating platforms on Google+. Apparently, he only wanted to share it internally with everybody at Google, but mistaken shared it publicly.

LOL! seems to me that google+ has been, and still is, an ongoing experiment with the intention of taking down facebook. i have g+ "liked" on facebook, and g+ asked some hilarious question about why hasn't everyone abandoned facebook yet. personally, g+ (as well as gmail) keeps getting better and more preferable than facebook and their mail service, and since every platform needs to start somewhere and gain feedback, that's why they only allowed a limited number of people in the initial stages to sign up, in what essentially amounts to beta testing. bottom line is that g+ isn't finished yet, and these things take time. rome wasn't built in a day, after all.
this rant is ridiculous and hilarious, and frankly, premature, although the meeping about amazon is entertaining.

The downside to g+ for most end users, is that so many people are already entrenched in facebook. Of course, that's its main appeal for people who hate facebook.

They shoulda let onymous have all the accounts they wanted. That was a guaranteed boost to market share, completely missed.
