Speaking of pigs,
I volunteered to do a barbecue benefit for a coworker sometime in late october.
Poor gal's cancer decided to come back for a visit.
Anyway, I'm donating a pig and smoking it whole for sammiches just like we did at the get-together.
Gonna do a few hundred stuffed jalapenos too.
I should have all the recipes/organization perfected in time for next year.
I'm keeping count, btw:

I was just noting the other day what a great cook for group events I've become because I've cooked for so damnned many dead people lately.

The gal's name is Ortiz. She's about 55-60yo and works as a nurse. This is her second bought with it.
The staff is saying she told them that she's got it ALL OVER now.
It's beyond meeped up.
She's a little too religious for my tastes, but she's one of the kindest, most caring and thoughtful people that I have ever met.
The world will be darker without her.
She says she has faith and it's all part of god's plan.

I'm glad she has a way to cope.

I watch a show called The Big C on HBO about a woman with cancer. The main character's sister has a miscarriage (but had already named the unborn baby after the stricken sister as a tribute). The Miscarriage Sis decides to have a funeral for the fetus and announces the funeral in the obits in the paper. Everyone who reads it thinks the stricken sister has died (because she shares the name with the fetus), and all of the stricken sisters' friends show up thinking its her funeral, which as a result, it turns out to be because they are all there anyway. It was pretty cool that she gets to have her funeral before she dies. Sounds like this lady gets something similar. We should all be so lucky.
