Shutting Down... the West

What? Oh no, no, no. Regulation is for the commongood. Regulation is always for the benefit of the common folk--the little people; the little Davids that can't possibly threaten great corporate Goliaths. There's no way that corporate interests could buy the legislative power of the government to serve their own interests; to prop up their market position against the stagnant vision, lack of valid customer contact, and paralyzing risk aversion. There's no way that legitimate government regulations on big corporate activities could possibly ever be in the interests of those same corporations. Wee need this security blanket--this safety ne--to protect us from ourselves. We certainly need more regulations, and this is a fine step--for our very own good. That will show those big corporate interests just who is, and who is not the boss around here. Right mofo? meeproach? BigDinWaunakee? nocal?

I would welcome regulation of social media sites to the extent that people conspiring to commit a crime (which is itself a crime) would be taken down and made to answer. Criminals who would interfere with the pursuit of others life, liberty, etc. belong behind bars. And that goes for corporations who are irresponsible about the generation and disposal of toxic waste, etc. Regulations are necessary because left to their own devices corporations (and people) will wear bottom line blinders and destroy their host.
