In the dark recesses of my mind I had a nagging suspicion that some of the more gorilla-looking meeps I've run across might have some neanderthal in their heritage.
So the opposite is true then.

I'm gonna have to rethink the whole definition of what a neanderthal is.

The assumption that they were less violent than their homosapian cousins sounds more plausable now, somehow.

It has always seemed to me that all of the hairy, large-boned and less vocal and concept-oriented people I have encountered may be a bit neanderthal.
Maybe when a population of meep-Erectus decided to move North into the lands of the Neanderthal, they found them socially adequate (and apparently meepY). The end result of this union was, quite possibly, sturdier children who were genetically more adapted to the new environs.
To me, this makes a lot of sense when you think of the genetic traits attributed to humans who evolved farther from the equator, whose skin needs less melanin for protection from the sun.
All that said, neanderthals were a very different species and therefore had a strong and distinct set of genetic traits and that could mean that the their lineage makes it certain that some of those ape-like people we encounter daily are actually, strongly, Neanderthals.

This is not a direct measure of intelligence, but looking at the clear progression of cranial capacity of Australopithecus through h.erectus and on to modern meep, we see neanderthal right with modern in terms of evolution/cranial capacity. Their stout builds and more robust features were physical adaptations to Ice Age Europe, not primitive traits.

Wait, so if every race but African is to some extent a meep sapiens-Neanderthal hybrid, then there actually is at least one known, demonstrable genetic difference between the races. And if h. sapiens and h. neanderthalensis could interbreed, that's a real kick in the meep for the definition of species as a distinct population that can only breed with itself.

Not just Whitey. The Chinks are part Neanderthal as well.

Part of the problem, is, of course, with all interspecies breeding, mules. You have to expect a good 80-90 percent of the offspring to be sterile. Makes the fuglies die out.
