It's probable that this is happening ( no, I don't trust the law of the land to protect individual freedoms of expression, even in Canada), but it'd be nice to have some verification for these events.

Considering that the US won't change anything in the Patriot Act that protects its citizens from unwarranted eavedropping, it wouldn't suprise me.

Where do I start? First, it's funded by putin to spew russian propaganda, they even have known spies working for the network. Reporters without borders have rated RT one of the worst new sources in the world. They frequently indulge paranoid conspiracies on the network, (Some recent examples: Bin Laden isn't dead, 9/11 is an inside job, a second civil war is imminent, Alex jones isn't a meep)
