most people have this out-of-sight, out-of-mind mentality regarding this sort of thing. no one gives a meep as long as they don't have to see/hear about it, but they're happy to go to purchase some ground beef and hotdogs.

Exactly why I posted this. Most of us have options. There are local producers for beef, pork, and chickens that are small, family farms. The meat is more expensive, but I'll gladly pay the cost. In the process of buying a standing freezer so i can load up on good stuff from the local farmers markets, and room for the deer meat I get in the fall.

Ehh most of this video is just torture porn, yeah I don't doubt this happens everyday, but It sure ain't convincing me to spend twice as much on some free range bullmeep that's probably treated the same way.

factories supply an artificially high population for an artificially high population. consumers consume until consumed. eventually, the time of antibiotics and gasoline will pass.

Humans evolved as omnivores. A healthy diet includes meat. That being said, wealthy nations eat an unhealthy amount of it. BECAUSE IT'S DELICIOUS. The "inhumane" practices arise because wealthy meat lovers don't want to pay for the comfort of something that shows up at their table dead and uncaring anyway. If it bothers you that your dinner died screaming and terrorized, you can pay a premium for dinner that did not. You'll even get a healthier, better cut of meat. I cannot afford to pay that premium. I occasionally get meat from friends who raise chickens, pigs, and rabbits that live a cushy, spoiled life and I can attest to the fact that it's deliciousness is definitely enhanced.

On that topic, I've got the smoker modded and ready for the massive housepet barbecue on the 22nd.
(Bring your own dry-rub/sauce/marinade.)
