I third the sticky suggestion. Until there is a site that throws all the deeds of whisteblowers, Wikileaks, Anonymous, etc., this will do for now. This lead up to mass revolution/reform is going to be juicy.

I was digging this until they started talking about the IRS. All of the sudden they stopped explaining things and just asserted them.

lol, I started a "sucks" page like this once after being ripped off by a company, I cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless customers, so they sued me for a million bucks. Fun stuff! Brings back memories...

Masteryoda, be prepared for anything, and make sure you state "In my opinion" everywhere, on every page. Doesn't matter if you do everything 100% right, you can be sued, and you'll have to defend yourself, which can cost a LOT of money. I was able to raise funds online to help pay for my lawyer fees, but there is also the fact that I'm in NJ, I was sued from NV, and trying to find a good lawyer on the other side of the country is just about impossible. Even if you're proven 100% in the right, you'll still have to pay your lawyers.

Thanks hoyaguru, that's one thing that stops me from making a site.

Message me your email address if you need info, I went through meep with mine, but saved hundreds of other comapnies, and put the bad guys out of business. In your case, it would seem that there are a lot of other people who are doing (or will be doing) the same thing, so chances are you'd be OK, but using the same logic, if others are doing it, why take the risk?

It's still out there, though I no longer own it, I gave it over to the other guy who got sued at the same time as me (he helped me out with my lawyer fees too). The company that (in my opinion) ripped me off was called Traffic Power (a Search Engine Optimization company), the website I put up was www.trafficpowersucks.com. The bad guy (in my opinion) was Matt Marlon, he (allegedly) ripped me off for $4001, so I told him if he didn't refund my money, I'd cost him 100 times as much. Took me several months to hit that, and I kept going. Even made it into the Wall Street Journal, though I just checked and that article isn't up there any more, though I probably have a copy around here somewhere. This is ancient history in Internet time, about 5 or 6 years ago. The company (allegedly) not only took my money, but (in fact) got every web page of my company banned from Google. Matt Cutts from Google finally came out and admitted to banning sites because of Traffic Power (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/confirming-a-penalty/) which caused a big stir at the time. The owner of Traffic Power finally gave up and called off the lawsuit, but it was pretty scary at the time, could have lost my business, house, etc. The owner of Traffic Power ended up closing down the company, I heard that about 200 people were put out of their jobs. Marlon ended up in some kind of trouble a couple of years later in some kind of home buying fraud, I never could find out what happened to him.

Lessons learned:

Don't put up a "sucks" page unless you are ready to lose everything.

It can cost tens of thousands of dollars to fight a frivolous lawsuit.

Some judges and lawyers in Clark County NV are freaking idiots.

The FBI don't really care. I had 14 previous and current employees of Traffic Power giving me info, everything from the 20 or more fake companies he (allegedly) had, the holes in the desert he'd had (allegedly) dug, and the things he was doing with real estate. Took years and a lot of people losing everything they owned before anyone would do anything.

Never EVER use American Express. It was through them that Traffic Power (allegedly) pulled their scam off. Traffic Power didn't promise search results until after 90 days, at which time American Express didn't give a meep about their customers and gave them no protection. Had I used MC or VISA I would have probably gotten my money back through them and never thought about Traffic Power again.

The BBB is a totally worthless entity, Traffic Power had zero complaints against them when I signed up, over 100 when they finally closed down. Took them WAY too long to update anything.

Jeez, I could go on, haven't even thought about this meep for years, now I got my dander up. Anyway, figured at the time I was doing the right thing, Traffic Power was (allegedly) putting companies out of business that had been going strong for 15 years or more, and I helped out a lot of people.

The court case was, at the time, supposedly "groundbreaking" and the results were closely watched by the whole SEO community (yes, all 4 of them). Supposedly, if we had lost, then the owner of Linkswarm could be sued for what I just wrote here, even with all of the "allegedly's" and "in my opinion's".

My business back then was www.batteryfuel.com, ended up selling it in 2006, the guy who bought it from me sold it last year, no idea who owns it now. I'm guessing the old site is still out on the internet archive somewhere, it's almost as badly designed as trafficpowersucks.com. Also, trafficpowersucks.com went through a bit of a rewrite when I got sued, I added a meepload of "in my opinion"'s and stuff like that to protect myself, took down the running total. I think I was up to over $600,000 that I had taken from Traffic Power by the time I stopped counting, according to emails I'd received from people I had "saved" with the "sucks" pages. Sounds like a lot, but they were making about $100,000 a week (or so I was told) at that time.

Would I do it again? No idea, though I know for a fact my wife would say "Absomeepinglutly Not!". I still have a gun hidden in a secret compartment in my bed because of this, it got pretty hairy at the time. I did think about writing a book about it, I have enough to write about, but I doubt a lot of people would find it interesting. Plus I'd probably get sued again.

I wouldn't create a sucks site, just a site that compiles everything that's going on in these beginning stages of revolution. Kind of like Linkswarm but with opinion pages, direct videos like www.bankofamericasuck.com, yadda yadda.Basically it would be a one stop link dump for anyone who wanted to find out what's going on and didn't want to have to search all over the net.

Business was good, even with that site, until Traffic Power. Went from about 50 orders a day to 5 a day if we were lucky. I had hundreds of pages listed on Google, they all disappeared in one day, it was like someone had flipped a switch (which Google pretty much did).

I wish I could find out what happened to Matt Marlon. Last I hear he was put in jail, then got out before his trial (for the housing rip off thing), then nothing, it's like he vanished.

Depending on how much money he had or the people he knew, he probably did.
