Michigan Governor takes over local governments

They are trying to pass a new law in Michigan that will allow private companies to take over cities at the governor's will - replacing elected officials and jurisdictions with contractors working for the governor. WTF is happening in our USA? Why aren't more people alarmed by this?

Australia is friendly as well, and far enough away that it will take a while for the infection to spread. Canada sounds like it is in the early stages already.

Because in the land of the pacified and the home of the infantile blue vs. red crowd, they can. Americans will happily continue buying their way through Wal*Mart's pile of plastic inventory and collecting Disney mugs from McDonalds to complete their collection above the gas fireplace in their mobile homes - because they are free to do so. Some stupid, boring law in some stupid, boring state isn't going to stop them from attending to their emotional needs. They are entitled to do these things. How dare you ask that they give a meep?

Also, corporations have exactly the same rights as you do. Who are you to say that they shouldn't be allowed to run a town?

When our country is run by the (elected) government they call it "Socialism". When it is run by the (self appointed) corporations they call it "Fascism". I never considered myself a Socialist, and still don't. However if those are my only two choices, then I think I'll have to side with them.
