Can you get hooked on diet soda?

I've often wondered if it was. I don't touch the stuff, but I've watched some who can't live without it. Conspiracy, or did the soda industry just get lucky?

I drink about 6 coke zero a day, at least I have for the last 3 years. I have been off them for about 3 days now and I don't really feel anything at this point other than a craving, certainly no nausea or headaches. I quit a 20 year tobacco addiction 8 years ago, quitting diet soda does feels pretty similar just not near as strong.

I've found it harder to give up soda than I did giving up a 30-40 a day cigarette habit. I don't think it's a chemical thing at all (with me at least) but an almost pavlovian mental conditioning that the only way to quench my thirst is with something ice cold fizzy and sweet.

I'm not on a diet.

Wifey drinks that meep every day, and has for years. Last November, has a Grand Mal in Albertson's in the freezer aisle (I wasn't there). Woke up in the back of an ambulance. Never had any type of seizure before (other than the cops taking her beer when she was 15), and no signs or symptoms since. I blame the Primatine inhaler for her asthma, but it's all you can get over the counter. Still, that dang fake sweetener scares me like a pesticide, and she still drinks that, even though she gave up the Primatine and switched to some new meep the Dr. gave her that doesn't work for her asthma at all. MRI & EEG on Friday (finally), and we'll see if it's Primatine, diet soda, or a brain tumor caused by all the above.

How's your week?

Wow, I don't think it was the aspartame or the inhaler or lights blinking faster than 3x a second beachgoat...probably the lack of a certain chemical rather if you get my drift. :/
