But seriously, this is some meeped-up meep and many here are quite alarmed, maybe even more than an expatriate would be able to believe.

From everything I have been reading, this probably has to do with weather. Central Arkansas went from 60 degrees and high humidity to 22 degrees and low humidity in a matter of hours due to the same meeped-up Arctic weather patterns that have been battering a large portion of the country. The birds may have been rousted by strong wind currents (and possibly the inherent need to get the meep away from them) and may have met their demise by upper-level hail. Or, the birds have been dealing with this meeped-up weather for too long and just couldn't muster the energy to fly anymore. Unless more information comes from the autopsies that confirms rednecks have way too much access to fireworks and other explosive devices, or implies government-sanctioned electromagnetic burst, inbreeding, solar meepery, chemical interaction or mass avian suicide, the weather is all we have to work with at this point.

Weathers fine up here in Michigan. The snow's all melted and the temps are in the 40's; probably 20 degrees warmer than what we're used to this time of year. meep the rest of you meeps and meep your birds too.

Weather is boring. I think blaming it on defense contractors is more entertaining. I understand Raytheon has a major operation near Little Rock. They did it.

The 100,000 dead fish is easy to explain. It's what happens when the church tells Southern folk that they are not allowed to beat their meat anymore. People go out and start beating fish. And then when there are 100,000 dead fish lying around, everyone is too embarrassed to admit that they were taking out their immoral meepual urges on their water-loving brethren.

I don't know what the meep happened to the birds though.

meep son, this was on Radio 4 on the way home tonight. They had the chief vet of America on the phone and he was saying that the post mortem of at least 17 of the birds showed that they died from a blunt-force trauma; consistent with falling out of the sky.

Mind. Blown.

I blame HAARP.
