Is it just me, or is this just too much generalization?
One of the things about modernization in capitalism is that they inherently streamline the usage by the individual. The process to make things like that cappuccino he mentioned has been streamlined to minimize waste and provide a greater number of units per run.
That's just part of making profit.
Sure, there're more people there, but for just about everything, the unit cost in terms of energy and consumption has gone way down.
Even things like family planning, education, healthcare and environmental upkeep are starting to take this shape.
I have faith that everyone will, simply in his/her quest for the mighty dollar, bring about the changes necessary to keep civilization from collapsing.
I'm fairly sure we won't require constant technological breakthroughs to make it through another century.(Not that that's a bad thing)
Don't panic. It'll all be okay.
