If I was to go on a meepty YOUTUBE link spree then I would be schooled on the fact that the front page is not made for such garbage and I should use the proper facilities for crappy YOUTUBE links (as I have been told before). You and Clav on the other hand get your funny bone tickled and make it happen and if anyone says anything we are stupid? I'm not mad, as Clav asked, but the bullmeep gets thick around here sometimes. Half the junk that you push through or reverse would get a regular swarmer thrown to the lions. Rank has privilege i know, but please explain the stupid here.

I'm betting the STUPID thing is about reflexively rejecting anything video. It's true that the basic LinkSwarm ethos has been fairly anti-video back in the day, but this seems to be changing as generally better videos seem to be cropping up less rarely.

That is to say, you are correct that the frontpage isn't made for garbage, and that garbage YouTubes belong in the garbage YouTube thread.

On the other hand, if you've got a non-garbage YouTube, don't avoid submitting it simply because it's a video. Occasionally the best things are videos.

(Specific recommendations as to the value of this particular video left as exercise to the swarmer.)

Hey meepgots. Any feelings yes/no about the ability for Alphas to vote anonymously in the queue? It might help you cope with feelings of gayness knowing that you can vote with your heart without fear of gangland meepfare ensuing.

I'd limit it to a very small number of anonymous votes per Alpha every X days.

LinkSwarm probably should be about indulging in guilty pleasures when the need arises.

Arguing at length about what deserves to be on the frontpage isn't my idea of lols; it's closer to my idea of suck.

Sometimes I think things get rejected not because no one likes them, but because everyone knows their name's going to go up in lights and then someone else is going to call them a meepgot for it liking it.

If this is actually the case, then we're seeing content people like getting rejected because, e.g., there's a sense that if you +1 a YouTube, you're going to get 'thrown to the lions'.

This makes the safe bet always a -1, where everyone's too cool for school and nothing gets approved. Which sucks, obviously.

So maybe handing out a couple anonymous votes a day will help fix that. If it works, I'm for trying. (I'd be happy to have overestimated the need for it.)

I think a happy medium would be to do away with the vote comments, that wouldn't expose us all to the inner working of most people's brainparts, which is mostly dookie anyway, punctuated by gold here and there.

If everyone likes this idea a whole lot, then we're in luck, because this is exactly how the new engine behaves.

To wit, as you vote in the Alpha Queue...

• You are no longer required to furnish a vote reason. (You are in fact not able to do so.)
• You can comment on links that are in the Alpha Queue. These are just regular ol comments and will be visible on the link like usual, both before and after it makes it out of the Alpha Queue.
• If you want to leave a vote reason, just make a comment, duh.
• You'll be able to see and reply to the other comments Alphas are leaving.

Legacy vote reasons will be preserved and visible, but future votes will show only a vote and a username.

Although I'd probably never use it I like the anonymous idea for the lols that will ensue trying to figure out who the chicken meep meep meepgot was who did use it.

I say nay. I rather like the way it is and I like when links get rejected or unrejected by admins after the votes were counted. I makes me feel all linkswarmy inside.

I got to admit I gave this video about 5 seconds before I -1. I generally compare animal videos to baby monkey riding backwards on a pig(which is the holy Grail of animal videos). If I gave it a -1 too quickly well Meh. If an admin feels that strongly that they unreject....I'm not losing any sleep over it.
