It is bizarre to see Christians so violently opposed to the one other religion in the world that has nice things to say about that Jesus guy they claim to love so much.

Hate is not a good thing to preach, espouse, endorse, encourage, or promote. It is kind of boggling how some demagogues can thrive preaching Hate. It isn't a sustainable or healthy way to live. I feel sorry for them.

Almost everything in any Abrahamic religious writing, and a lot of others, is rather simple religious theology wrapped around practical laws and certain issues of the time. This can be applied to almost any Deuteronomical law in the Torah.

Fanatics nowadays are doing the same; they're taking something, say fear of Muslims or anti-American sentiment, and wrapping it in religious issues. A jihad or a fatwa were necessary a hundred years ago before the relatively modern age of acceptance.

Mainstream religion is fairly fluid, as most people find it necessary that in order to practice faith they must first match a fair amount of it to the outside world. Fanatics do the opposite, they try to match the outside world to their religion

If that doesn't convince, and LS is full of rather vocal atheists, just replace religion with patriotism, nationalism, racism, meepism, classism, etc. Then blame people.
