No one has ever thought of this before, but I think BP has a vested interest in not introducing or advancing such technology. You know-like if you're an ant you don't spend millions of dollars making an anteater /cool analogy

im missing your point and i don't get how the analogy is relevant.
on the flip side, introducing this microbe into the ocean could create a chain of events that ultimately worsens the disaster. much like that dispersant they are dumping in the ocean now that they refuse to release the chemical composition of (b/c they own the patent on it).

like, something that eats oil is eating oil-and if there is a way of recovering it in any way they are better off with it the oil present in one form or another rather than digested.
