Not every link you see here is going to be news to you. Some of the biggest news stories are impossible to submit/approve/view on linkswarm before they have reached mainstream outlets and have become common knowledge to anyone with eyes and ears... BUT - front paging links to these stories does create a place on linkswarm for discussion among linkswarmers regarding said news.

Or, you could just meep about the site's content and the way it's run.

Your choice.

with Vas ' s time being taken up by pending nuptials, leaving it in others hands to run, it's lacking lately. The guy with the talent has left it up to the less capable. Nice that he has that faith in 'em, but like US Christers and comparable Talibans , it's a little overzealous in it's belief vs.reality.

Commence enumerating the administrative staff's manifold failures. In minute detail, if possible. I, for one, want to ensure your COMPLETE satisfaction.

Then follow up with an action plan for us, and details on how much dough you're planning to donate to LS to get the ball rolling on this endevour.

Yeah, this took 3 days or so to get through the AQ. The second link came through in a day, but was rejected for being the second link. Such is life.

This hole you are digging, it is getting deeper, Pete.

LinkSwarm is, by design, what you make it be. If the content sucks, you are directly responsible. If the content rocks you are directly responsible.

Any suggestion that the linkswarm administrators are responsible for your lack of putting great content onto it's front page is retarded at best.

Any suggestion that this site isn't being run properly from a non-Alpha who hasn't even ponied up and taken advantage of an Alpha membership to help run it, is lame at best.

This link was submitted as breaking news. It was also submitted while everyone on this site was out of commission with Christmas food coma-itis, therefore it sat in the queue until the Alphas got around to voting for it. I could have marked this submission as time sensitive but I didn't because I doubted it would matter since everyone was enjoying Christmas.

That said, you could be discussing the link rather than chirping about linkswarm sucking in a news thread. Or, the least you could do to make linkswarm better is get busy submitting links that you believe don't suck. Either way, it's your foot in the shoe and the content of this site is your responsibility, not the administrators.

Listen, if you submit junk and it get's rejected, it lowers the number of links you are allowed to have in the queue. This is caused by you, not linkswarm admins.

I'm scrolling through the front page and I see like two or three links belonging to you. One of them is rejected and is meep. That's not ''leading by example'' in my opinion.

From your prifile:
Pete56 is a regular Swarmer.
Total Links submitted: 66
Total Links rejected: 31
Rejection bitterness rating: 46.969%

These stats are created by you, not the linkswarm admins.

My advice to you would be this: Stop submitting meepty links 46.9% of the time.

Just think, by making YOU better you make LINKSWARM better. Neat how that works, huh?

wotak... I assume the 'whoa, let the queue be managed' links don't even get submitted, that they're just an overflow of Swarmlords (I keep thinking a netful of Doctor Who's..can't help it) attention spans, and get rejected out of hand, unexamined. That has zero to do with my meepty links that DO get rejected. THOSE links, the meepty ones, I completely accept as you don't think the same things are pretty cool that I do. WAH! bfd... It's not a tough pair of concepts to separate.

Your number-of-links-in-the-queue-at-any-one-time limit starts at 6.

If your rejection bitterness rating is over 25%, you're limited to 3.

If your rejection bitterness rating is over 45%, you're limited to 1.

This keeps the meepcurve low.

I'll try bumping that last rule to 50% and 2 respectively to see what happens. There'll probably be a little more doodoo, but people with less-than-stellar records can let their heartshine out a little better.

Also, I've been meaning to make RBR only take into account the last 6 or 12 months, so that as you get better you stop paying for past mistakes. I'll make that change, too.

I assume the 'whoa, let the queue be managed' links don't even get submitted, that they're just an overflow of Swarmlords [...] attention spans, and get rejected out of hand, unexamined.

Those links aren't rejected, they are never submitted. When you see this notice, save the link for future submission. Then, review it to make sure you think it really is front page worthy before submitting it. Alphas do not know who submitted what links so nobody is voting your stuff down just because it's your stuff. The link gets voted on based upon it's individual merit.

Vas is going to bump up your queue limit and allow you an easier shot at improving both your rejection bitterness rating and your links-in-queue allotment. I suggest you be very careful what you submit ie, make a list of five links you think you should submit and then only submit the best of the five after reviewing carefully, wash, rinse, repeat - so you can get your stats right.

Vas was helpful, and helpfully critical(and I hope to meep he doesn't follow through on the rejection/wait thing. It already works fine.)You keep thinking it's about my ego. It's not. What people think of me, or my tastes in what I find entertaining, hasn't been an issue for several decades, and I get along just fine ,with no tears or rage or terminal pouting. I'm secure in my beliefs, and tend to laugh at the gall of anyone who lectures me on how I should act , or be...including my live-in hunnybunny. The internet is a barrel fulla giggles on that front.

Pete56: ''linkswarm sucks because vasudeva isn't here running it and the guys filling in for him are doing it wrong!''

Clavis_A: ''Shut up, retard, it's free.''

Wotak: ''No Pete56, you're doing it wrong.''

Pete56: ''No I'm not!''

Wotak: ''Yes you are and here's why...''

Pete56: ''But I'm being deliberately discouraged!''

Vasudeva: ''Hmmm, perhaps you are. I'll fix that for you, no charge.'' *fixfix

Pete56: ''No! Don't change it! I was just fishing for comments! Everything is perfect!''

Clavis_A: ''You ungrateful passive-aggressive meep.''

Wotak: ''Here's what to do with your newfound freedom to submit links...''

Pete56: ''I don't care if I'm doing it wrong! Shut up Wotak, it's not about ME!''

Wotak: ''Oh meep it, I give up. You're obviously bat-meep crazy.''

Pete56: ''NO! Wait! Linkswarm is perfect! It's just Wotak that sucks because... this link! THIS LINK! WOTAK, EVERYBODY! WOOOOTAAAK!'' *points furiously

Oh, for Pete's sake. If it really sucked, it (probably) wouldn't have passed. Since you have no clue how the AQ functions or what it looks like, then wotak is undeniably right; contribute or meep off. I've thought this of others here at times Pete, but you and regulator really take the cake; if you couldn't be ignorant, mean and nasty (without being funny even), you simply wouldn't be.

It's news, meep! If you can do better, then please meeping do it.

Folks (admins and leading members) are trying to help you here. I think wotak summarized it all perfectly, I just had to put in my 2cents worth 'cause Apocosaurus already used my pat response. I will echo what I see as the overriding sentiment though-CONTRIBUTE OR DIE!

And you can't have to much of a good thing, I like beavers cleaned though.

Another indignant Alpha lecture. Stylin'. The diff twixt me and thee, dagwood, is as an alpha, you get to make unpleasant commentary about links before the links hit the board. I explained why I thought it sucked. This isn't some sort of delayed CNN for pinheads. What sucks is, to each of us, a personal thing. You think this link is the cats meep. I don't. Hey Pete, I just thought I'd update this thread with all the latest facts, that you don't want to know anything about, regarding this story. (Warning! This post contains 9 more links regarding Nigerians, airplanes and explosives and should adequately serve to make linkswarm 90% more intolerable for you!)

This last Christmas Day Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23 year old son of a prominent Nigerian banker attempted to bring down a trans-Atlantic Northwest Airlines flight with an explosive mixture containing PETN, a popular addition to amateur explosives. Then this Sunday a young Nigerian gentleman in intestinal distress caused caused the crew of his flight to alert authorities who detained and quickly released him. <-(via MeFi)

Stylin'. You cannot imagine how little this means to me. I mean, I think you think I'm posing or showing out somehow, but as rarely as I post comments to entertain myself or engage others that simply cannot be the case.

The diff twixt me and thee, dagwood, is as an alpha, you get to make unpleasant commentary about links before the links hit the board. No the differences go much further than that, I have been a member here for over 5 years. The comments on links are a pleasing addendum to the actual VOTE, which I have now again (for a lousy $5/month) earned. For fun and for free you (insert personal derision here) still have the same opportunity to comment. It really is a beautiful little democracy we have here. Bonus Quiz:

Which of the following statements best describes linkswarm?

A. It's perfect, don't change a thing!

B. It's pretty good, but it could use some tweaking; just don't bring it up in Wotak's thread.

C. It's feck'd. Was a bad idea, poorly implemented, and not worth fixing. See you at FARK!

How did I get included in this I just commented on pete and wotok NOT linkswarm.
