I do know auto and MOST semi auto guns are outlawed. I have heard talk that if you build your own AK it is 100% legal even as a full auto weapon. But that is talk around the fire pit. For gods sake are there any meeping lawyers in here?

On a related note: it seems you don't have to register your weapon if you happen to have a prior felony conviction. Or, arguably, even if you don't. That would constitute that self-incrimination that the bill of rights is supposed to be protecting us from.

Where? Semi auto weapons are perfectly legal in the US. The local gunshops (we have a meep ton of em up here) always have a few AR15's sitting in the racks. The Ruger 10/22 is a semi automatic weapon as are hundreds of other hunting rifles. Semi auto shotguns are legal to own but we can't hunt with them in Michigan. Almost all handguns are semi-auto and they're legal.

Also, anyone that can legally own a weapon in the US is free to build a weapon. If one wishes to, one could legally build an AK-47 or M-16 in this country. It is not necessary to register a home built rifle but it is advised that you put some form of serial on it to cover your meep. If you are raided and rifles are found that don't have serial numbers on them, there are laws that can be bent far enough to be used to prosecute your meep. I have spoken with home builders that simply put their SSN on their home made receivers.

On the flip-side, it is illegal to own an any automatic weapon that isn't registered. If you can legally own a gun in this country, you can legally own an automatic weapon as well but you must get a permit through the ATF and register the weapon with them in order to buy one.

I hear a lot of people talk about US gun rights that simply don't have their facts straight and it boggles my mind that US citizens actually fear for their right to bear arms. I think the reason that so many people fear for their right to bear arms is simply because of all the misinformation that is blarged-out by people who are paranoid and then that misinformation ends up spreading around during talks around fire pits.

Living in a state that has arguable the most restrictive gun laws in the nation(along with D.C., Hawaii, New York, and certain Illinois cities), building your own firearm is the only way to get your hands on weapons such as these.

You can find some guys that will ship 'neutered' 'assault weapons.' Assault weapons, which CA defines as 'any weapon that has a pistol grip that conspicuously protrudes beneath the action of the weapon and accepts a detachable magazine (other things also may qualify) are very hard to get transferred by most FFLs in CA, the guys federally required to do the paperwork, background check, and enforce the meep 10-day CA-required waiting period between the time you buy the gun and actually pick it up. I went in one day to a local gun shop because I heard he'd transfer neutered AKs and the ATF was visiting him auditing his files, needless to say I left never to return.

The CA DOJ also has strict rules on which firearms can be sold in CA, all pisotls must pass a 'drop test' to be approved for sale and must be sold with a DOJ approved locking device. There is also a ban on hi-capacity magazines which is by CA standards, any detachable mag capable of accepting more than 10 rounds. Ridiculous.

SOOOO, if i'd like to build an AK and have it be Californian legal, I would need to do 3 things.

Build the rifle with BATF approved parts(federal).

Make sure, because the weapon has a 'pistol grip,' that the magazine has a bullet meepon and that said magazine is of 10rd capacity or less. (The bullet meepon allows me to have the pistol grip and 'fixed' magazine which cirmeepvents the assault weapon description. Finally I must register this weapon within a specified time.

Another fun law was just signed by our wonderfully confused governor is AB 962. This piece of meep legislation BANS all internet orders of ammunition in CA. Furthermore it requires that when I buy ammo in a required face to face transaction, tweaker Jimmy at walmart must record my fingerprint, drivers license and the TYPE of ammo I purchased. The retailer must then store this info for several years. :<

So you see Wotak, California once used to be like say, Michigan, with fairly unrestrictive gunlaws. Incrementally those rights have been restricted and it continues today. Hopefully this helps unboggle your mind with regards to the fact that some peoples right to keep and bear arms is already infringed upon.

This is a bullmeep law right here but even though it's a pain in the meep, it still doesn't keep you from bearing arms.

I agree that there are a few states that have tighter restrictions regarding the ownership of firearms, but none of them are trying to take them away altogether. We will always have guns in this country and they will never be taken away. It's an impossible scenario that will never happen. I firmly believe any attempt to remove the right of the people to bear arms in this country would be met with armed dissidents in numbers that would literally paralyze our government.

For those of you in states with these extra restrictions, I would advise you to get involved with your state government and get others involved with you.
