Franken To GOP: 'You're Not Entitled To Your Own Facts'
In a few moments of heated but controlled anger on the Senate floor Monday evening, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) slammed Sen. John Thune (R-SD) and the GOP for essentially lying about the nature of the Democratic health care bill, suggesting they haven't read it. 'We are entitled to our own opinions; we're not entitled to our own facts,' Franken said. I like this guy

Franken's a smart guy. If the US could get even 100 politicians who stuck with facts over politics, there'd be some headway made, as opposed to the last decade's cavalcade of failures. Unfortunately, finding 100 honest people, out of 360,000,000, willing to work for the people of the U.S. , at a pretty decent salary, with killer perks, doesn't appear to be doable.

These politicions are easily swayed by the popular opinion of today. Watch The Century of The Self. In the video it explains the beginnings and evolution of public relations in the twenty first century. The video goes on to explain how the republicans and democrats use the popular opinion of swing voters to get elected.
The constitution writers did not know how government and business would run in our time. They were smart enough to know that the common folk like us are just two naive to speak for the whole country. But thats exactly what is happening. People want better roads, but complain the schools aren't good enough, you fix the schools, now something else isn't up to par. so we arnt going to elect you again. people who want to make a difference get lost in government and it's just a big cluster meep.
I guess one could go on all day on this about these kind of effects. Eventually, though this is my opinion, which is certainly not fact (thanks Al); When you talk about this stuff you travel down many different aspects of government, but they all eventually lead to the massive sewage dump that is our American Government.
