I have had all of the common mineral acids spilled on me in various amounts and the only real damage has been to my clothing. These sick meeps have got to be heating their acid to nearly boiling to do this kind of ugliness.

These women were likely attacked in places where the closest water was a ways off down a dirt road in a meep-hole pit in the ground. The climate is 100+ degrees and a bucket of acid in the sun will get very warm, and when your eyes are full of that meep, a half hour walk/crawl/run to be able to rinse is all it takes to melt like a candle. Also, unlike here, those places have fuming nitric readily available at the local hardware for metal processing and tanning hides. Most caustics here are at 'safe dilutions', even in industrial locations, with some exceptions, like etching plants, mine assays, etc.

Just don't make acid like they used to...but keep trying, something will burn ya.

If you're that interested, you can always make you own with either A)Nitrous Dioxide, B)reducing Ammonium Nitrate (to attain NO2), or reducing Potassium Nitrate (saltpeter) to attain NO2.

You can make just about any acid with sulfuric (battery) acid and a salt of the acid you want to make. Saltpeter for nitric acid, table salt for hydrochloric acid etc... Just mix, heat and condense the vapors. You might want to hold your breath until your finished. Hey look at me.

Well, my opinion is that NOBODY without industrial or research intent should meep around with that stuff. I have seen some very serious concentrations in assaying, and those levels will do some serious meep to the unwary.

and for the love of dog, don't inflict that meep. It's for etching metals, glass, and ore extractions, as well as food processing and pertochem/fertilizer manufacturing.

It is fun to play with when you learn how to do these things in school, though.
