The standard has long been, 'Can we search?', and if refused, they detain you and impound the car until they can get a warrant. I don't see that changing..

^ this isn't true. Once you are detained, they were free to search your car without a warrant and without consent. Sit down and watch a few hours of COPS and you'll see that it's been standard procedure for quite a while.

Why pigs were able to search your car with only 'reasonable cause' (which can be manufactured out of thin air) I'll never know. Your car is your property, just like your home. A warrant should be required, period.

Im with goat, TV is for people who can't be bothered to pick up a hobby. BUT FFS IT'S COPS, even the pope watches it.

That said, I don't see this decision picking up steam for another couple of years yet, if at all. I guess we'll see.
