Awesome.

This illustrates a powerful and common behavior in women, the creation of an internal narrative about themselves and the objects of their affection.

A clever man looking for a short-term relationship will facilitate the creation or realization of such a narrative. Women often have a narrative already constructed, and attempt to force a man who displays interest in them into the roles that will fulfill the plot of her fantasy narrative.

Men want to meep women. Women want to meep a fairy tale.

:scratches head:

Lownotes you just explained my last relationship to a T. When the fairy tale and reality didnt sinc up she split. She tried like meep to break me into her 'perfect little man.' Rinse repeat with another chump. Amazing...simply amazing.

I wonder if the bridge talks back to her and does the Eiffel Tower have a French accent?

I wonder if a couple of temporary tattoos could lead to interesting flings?

'I am the bridge personified. I've come to life tonight during the full moon. I must return to the harbor by dawn...' 'take off your clothes, its ok, I'm a bridge.'

What do these women do when David Copperfield makes their love object disappear? I wouldn't want to be there then.

She could always buy one of the little souvenir copies of the bridge or tower, a quart of lube and get jiggy with that.

I have known women to make strong personal attachments to objects before, but they are usually battery powered. Like cell-phones.

With men it's usually cars and boats.

You clearly didn't watch much of it.

It's a little long, but the ensuing freak show fairly worth it. Once they get two of these women to meet it turns into a roller coaster of lulz and frantic masturbation.

Men want to meep women. Women want to meep a fairy tale.

theres a slovenian philosopher who might semi-disagree w/ you:

'we men, at least in our standard phallocentric mode, even when we are doing it with a real woman, we are effectively doing it with our fantasy. the woman is reduced to a masturbatory prop. the woman arouses us in-so-far as she enters our fantasy frame. for women its different. the true enjoyment is not in doing it but in telling about it afterwards. of course women do enjoy meep immediately, but ... while they're doing it they're already enact or incorporate this minimal narrative distance. so that they're already observing themselves and narrativizing it.' --a perverts guide to cinema

The philosopher above is saying the same thing I did.

Our fantasy has no narrative, it is contained with the archetype we desire.

Their fantasy IS the narrative.

In our porn, the women are mostly interchangeable. We fixate on the variations of the archetype.

Their porn must exist within a story, a context.

Sure, women can find a man physically attractive and become aroused, but there must be context to move past that initial step. There must be a narrative, and if there isn't one, they will create it because their genes are directing their behavior.

We evolved two sets of behaviors, behaviors that continue to evolve in an escalating arms race between our chromosomes.

For us, it's about getting our genes in as many wombs as possible. We want those wombs to be fertile, and the bodies containing them to be young and healthy. The characteristics we desire are all indicators of fecundity, health and youth. We suffer nothing from a bad decision because we can move on.

They stand to suffer a great deal from a poor choice. Nine months in a weakened state, susceptible to predation. A dangerous birth in which they could perish from the event or from infection. We can play the averages, but if they want their genes to live on, they must care for the young, which again opens them to predation and requires more resources.

So, the characteristics they look for are not only health, but access to resources, the ability to get more, the willingness to share, the potential to secure those resources from others, status in the social heirarchy and so on.

We can size up the other meep from a photo. For them, they need to see the other meep in action, watch their behavior, judge them in a way that will help them predict future behavior. They need to feel truly wanted above other potential mates who would dilute the resource stream, or cut it off completely.

This complexity can't be summed up in a image. It needs a narrative lattice to be strung upon.

If they have a man who provides most of what they desire, but he beats them, or he's an meep, or he cheats, the internal friction between what they want and what they have can often be salved by a strong narrative.

The women in this video prove how dangerous this behavior can be.

They're already to objects we call 'money'.

exactly. i just thought the original comment was leaving something out in terms of men needing their 'masturbatory prop' -- when i mention these things to some people they find it ridiculous, but it never ceases to amaze me just how many men and women openly exhibit these traits (myself included).

The women in this video prove how dangerous this behavior can be.

not really sure how this is the case. so she likes to meep her bow, whats the worst result? a population decline maybe. i dont think that would be such a bad thing.

opinion of my friend who is a lurker on this site:

i think tomorrow ill register an account if i can and write a response. for now all i have to say is i like your post best, it's by far the most interesting comment - a further . nonetheless, i think the entire group has managed to take a very interesting, beautiful, and for sure strange human phenomenon and have the most boring conversation about it. in some ways i feel bad for these women. i dont think that woman wants to have meep with the eiffel tower, i think she lives in a society that no longer possesses a language or framework in which to capture ecstatic experiences outside of the language of meepual gratification and object possession (consumerism). the discussion of her archery and her love of the bow pales in comparison to the 1000 year old rituals that surround the technique and equipment of japanese archery. i find it curious that this discussion among men has overlooked the passionate and obsessive, frenzy of the men who create such objects as the eiffel tower, the sistine chapel, the arc de triomphe, etc.
this video reminded me a lot of Equus. again, maybe there's something wrong with me, but i envied the boy in the story. he felt an intensity for something that most people have to locate in another person so they can receive that intensity back, but not so for him. this boy tossed himself into the fire. he walked straight into destruction and with no expectations of requited love.

i think this is a solid point

No. These women are mentally ill and cannot make the appropriate connections with people. Furthermore, their brains have flipped one more switch and decided that yes, it does need these connections, but projects them onto objects since people are inaccessible. Notice all these women are meeps to their objects. Nothing beautiful about this, it's a mental illness.

And it's funny.

Magicchex - yes.

Dae_su's friend - no, it would be nice if this was some sort of passionate sucking-at-the-marrow-of-life sort of behavior, but it isn't.
