Can Anything Save Detroit?

ford re did their focus, and it's a surpringly nice little car. if they had a few more equivalent models, i think they might rebound slowly. beyond that, it's meeping easy to see why american cars are failing. small american cars are absolute pieces of meep. the pt cruiser, the dodge caliber, the chevy aveo. it's a weird situation when i get into a hyundai and think 'well at least it's not a pt cruiser.'

we rented a hyundai elantra when we went to zion in utah and drove 3 hours from vegas to there. wasn't amazing, but i was pretty happy with it.

we had to rent a car asap when our previous one was about to die. we got the cheapest first available and it was a chevy aveo. i was deathly afraid to get on the highway with it.

The whole 'we build what the people want' excuse that I hear from consumers and dealerships as an excuse for meepty MPG and generally meepty cars on the domestic front is bullmeep. Its funny, Japs make the best small cars sold here and now make the best trucks too(go test drive a Tundra).

I hope GM and Ford tank, they deserve it.

I'm with meepbox. GM and Ford are symbiotic-parasites and parasitic-symbiants with big oil, and they haveused and screwed the good people of this planet for far too long.

meepbox on the penny again. It's almost like Honda and Toyota finally said 'Okay you've been doing the same thing for 50 years, and we can't stand by and see a 1955 pickup being sold for $50,000. Tundra makes chevy look financially extortionate and the Ridgeline with AWD and IRS, and Honda's rediculious service record make Detroit look like they've been sucking thier government pressed stock allignment 'thumb' for decades.

Detroit want's to complain? Engineer a good product that your workers can be proud of, not 'provide what the people want (what MTV tells them to borrow for)'
