just getting over a wicked little head cold, here, heh

that oregano oil works btw.

I am not a Dr. but, few people know what the whole deal is with the flu shot anyways. First the People who make the shot have to guess what strains will be the worst. Right now.. Guess how much rain we will get in July.. Ok, its hard to do.. Flu shots take 2 weeks to activate in your body. BTW it is not a live vaccine. So you really cant't get the flu from the shot, If you get sick, you have already come in contact with something before the shot, but the shot gets a bad wrap. Then it is supposed to stay in your body and protect you for up to 6 months, but we are not all created equal. It is typical to see an outbreak of the flu around this time of year. Granted the scientist didnt get the strain of flu correct this year, but nobody is perfect not even science. I've given my fair share of Flu shots and I have had them too. I swear by them. The shot can help . Besides ... who ever said the world was perfect? Just something for you to think about

Yes, but she is delicious and submissive. Both of the things that you have never been for me. Ha ha at you!

Except for the very young, old, and weak, the flu shot should be considered as an insurance policy, just in case one of the three strains comes rolling through your part of the world. So, its not a guarantee by any means, but it is the best that we have.

not diggin' the flu shot. Had a friend die of 'bronchial pnumonia' 6 days after having one, had a family member get terribly sick with the flu even though she had a shot 3 months before, never had a shot myself and outstayed every flu that's come and wreaked havok on my surrounding group.

best solution to not getting sick: strengthen your immune system you meep!

on the one hand, i don't plan on getting a flu shot. not sure i've ever had one.

on the other hand, are people forgetting that before flu shots, we had worldwide flu epidemics that killed countless people? it's easy to dismiss the flu shot when, you know, it's actually working.

Other than childhood and military required vaccines I've never gotten vaccinated against anything and I generally refuse to. I don't even like using anti-bacterial hand soap. What's going to happen with every virus out there is what happened with AIDS/HIV, they're going to become ever mutating and there won't be a vaccine. The same thing is happening with bacterial infections - look at the crop of Staph infections that are drug resistant. They've been exposed to drugs so often they've developed defenses.

I give my body every chance to build it's immunity on it's own. I get really sick maybe once a year. I can't get out of bed for a day, sometimes two, drink NyQuil like it's scotch and am good to go for another year.

And so the vaccination debate goes on. In the end, we got no hand when it comes to affecting or preventing mutations. Like nocal said, that whole lack of influenza epidemics that have wiped out Millions in one go are a pretty nice benefit of vaccinations.

So, we all can learn that:

Flu vaccines Don't Cause the Flu. Anyone who thinks so deserves to be selected out of the population, preferably in some gruesome manner or suicide. Please get to that as soon as possible.

There is no guarantee of Not Getting Influenza if you have had the flu shot administered. So, don't make the connection that shot=immunity to all flu viruses.

Some individuals do have complications to the flu vaccine, but only if they have a pre-disposition to one its preservative components or an allergy to eggs. Also, someone with an already taxed immune system could be pushed over the edge, as they would with any other immune response (cold, bacterial infection), so flu shots don't kill, but they can harm you if you are in a weakened state. Once again, natural selection's loving nudge.

Preventing World Wide Epidemics is a good thing. The whole lack of perspective thing sets in quickly when one hasn't lived through the fear of entire populations being killed by something other than bullets or weather related natural disasters. You are meeping kidding yourself if you think that it could never happen again, so put down your meeps or X-box controller and have a thought or two. Imagine if daddy, mommy, your best friends, your hot lover were all to die in a horrible manner, then multiply that across every family you know... and there you have an epidemic that populations have faced all the way back, or as some of you youngsters luv to say...'Back in the day....'

The attitude of 'I will let my body take care of itself' sounds heroic and cool, and perhaps for some lucky meeps their bodies are that strong. But what these immortals forget is that vaccines actually strengthen the body through the introduction of novel challenges, where your body builds up responses that didn't exist before, thus strengthening you for the real fight (epidemic). If you whiskey and chicken soup souls think that you are already fully stocked with every possible immune response, well then please fall into the natural selection line or just off yourself right now.... preferrably while posting it on LS.

Opinions don't equal fact or truth, and a little knowledge is usually a dangerous thing.
