Thank you for this useful educational material. I'm gonna need this when I take the electric motors shop class in 10th grade.

Why do we rate meep if The Council of Concerned LSers is constantly reversing the will of the swarm? Requesting a $1 refund per reversal in future. Vas, reign in your jackboot wearing henchmen or please rename this great site LordKahunaSwarm?

You seem to have a big hard-on whenever I unreject a link (4 since October), I hope I didn't ruin your whole weekend.

Actually scratch that, I hope it prompts you to kill self on the internet so wotak can submit it, allowing me to reject it with 'NOC' in the rejection description.

Just what exactly is your problem, and what exactly do you think that an alpha membership entitles you to?

I'm not sure what the big deal is, but I would still like to see you two fight it out.

DING DING(dong)

meepDingle, you meeping retarded meep... please research the concept of the rhetorical question.

Since I know the meeping bonuses of being an Alpha, of which (to me) the only real worthwhile one is controlling the fate of what is and isn't posted on the site, including deletes, I'm really wondering why I'm paying cash money to have said control, if it can just be over-ruled by LK, be it once, four times, or greater than four times.

Now, I really donate to keep Vas in a sufficient condom supply so as not to impregnate the gf, but I also donate to receive Alpha benefits. Now, when those benefits aren't exactly as described, then it is an ethical matter for me, akin to false advertising. Now, perhaps there is an asterisk somewhere indicating that the admin (Vas) and LK can over-rule any votes, then that's cool. But from what I remember when I wasn't an Alpha, some of the current Alphas told me and other non-As to pound sand, because we had no franchise in LS. Well, I have invested, taken a seat at the board, voting with all good intent, and then things just get over-ruled.

Now, in short, its Vas's sandbox and I'm a paying, respectful guest. But while I'm a paying guest, I don't want my paying vote disenfranchised. meep, even if it were meeping free, it would still be the same argument, so its not about the meeping money.... 'cause I'm not just about the meeping money.

'Nuff said.

Well, there's always this, on the page that meepNinja linked to...

Disclaimer There's always gotta be that one crapmeep who screws it up for everyone else, so I probably need to say: this does not entitle you to any special services, merchandise, behavior, state of being, compassion, support, influence, privilege, force field, hand-holding, meep worship, or beer. You may get one or more of those things in spades, but no such contract exists or should be implied. Also, don't urinate in your eye.

If you arrived somehow at the conclusion that voting in the Alpha Queue was an iron-clad contract, I have to point out that while this is absolutely not the case, that fact isn't actually spelled out anywhere except in the self-evidencing nature of admins posting that some link was rejected or unrejected after the fact. If you suppose this is a common enough misconception, I guess I could put a note somewhere, though I'd hate to have to expand on what little legalese there already is. Also, I kind of figure Alphas know the deal. (This is the first time I remember this ever coming up, though Clavis once got pissed that I changed a link title on him, years before he became an admin, or even an Alpha.)

I would love for the Alpha Queue to be that solid. That would save me a lot of time and effort, and the other admins probably feel much the same way.

Sadly, the current reality is that an Alpha Queue running completely unchecked would quickly turn the link section into dogpoop, and the formula by which we get there would change every time a new Alpha signed up and started adding his votes to the mix. Interestingly, since new Alphas tend more often to be noobs, this means new Alphas start their voting without benefit of years of Swarm exposure.

It's a tough, wierd problem, though it's actually gotten a surprising bit better of late; people seem to be voting less arbitrarily, which is awesome. I'm experimenting with something now that gives an edge to voters who have a track record of thoughtful-seeming votes. I'm not convinced we have a sufficiently large pool of voters to make it really matter, though.

The original idea behind the Alpha Queue stemmed from when every single link that went up did so after I personally decided yea or nay on it. Some things, I just wasn't sure how nigs would feel, and I wanted some way of getting a roundtable on it. I also got super meeping tired of having to invest a chunk of each day sifting through each meep Youtube video some random meep out there thought was lolly, especially knowing that apparently trillions of humans actually like watching videos online, even meepty ones. I built the Alpha Queue, and would squirt such links into it on these occasions. Since today a goodly portion of the incoming link content goes into the Alpha Queue directly, bypassing any admin oversight, I guess I'd have to say, despite the shortcomings of trying to maintain a distinct level of quality while engaging in free-for-all decree-by-committee, you've come a long way baby.

And then some adenoidal typists from Birmingham with flabby white legs and diarrhoea trying to pick up hairy bandy-legged meep waiters called Manuel and once a week there's an excursion to the local Roman Remains to buy cherryade and melted ice cream and bleeding Watney's Red Barrel and one evening you visit the so called typical restaurant with local colour and atmosphere and you sit next to a party from Rhyl who keep singing 'Torremolinos, torremolinos' and complaining about the food - 'It's so greasy isn't it?' - and you get cornered by some drunken greengrocer from Luton with an Instamatic camera and Dr. Scholl sandals and last Tuesday's Daily Express and he drones on and on about how Mr. Smith should be running this country and how many languages Enoch Pow ell can speak and then he throws up over the Cuba Libres.

I always thought that links getting unrejected was one of the coolest things on the swarm. It hardly ever happens and when it does it's usually a good link after all. I voted -1 on this one but I was kind of torn. To me it was a great link. I bookmarked it immediately because this is meep I can pull up at work to save time but I didn't think it was very swarmesque. It was one of those links that was hard to vote on.

In the end, it went up and justice was served regardless of my -1.

Kahuna for Preznit.

Woow, I didn't think this will be one of the most commented links in here (after rejection). Cool down guys, we know all, the admins have the final word about listing any link and I think this doesn't hurt anyone.

I 'm glad that a few of you liked the website content (thanks for unrejection), and yes, it is useful for those who have use for it.

All the best.

TIME TRAVEL!

Big D in Waunakee, I'd like to remind you that you voted -1 on this link only to have the scales, by which your rightfully earned rejection was weighed upon, promptly and soundly overturned and stomped into broken and bent bits of metallic wreckage right before your very eyes.

I want you to remember the pain of this day.

This actually came in handy for making me chuckle and miss the good old days that I wasn't a part of.

Actually I was just googling to the ends of the earth for some way to drive a HDD brushless DC motor without resorting to a microcontroller.
And I was here in '08 but don't remember this.
