Until yesterday I had been suspicious why everyone seemed to be condemning Imus for his racially insensitive remark but no one was questioning the validity of the remark. Last night I saw the rutgers girls basketball team on a stage with tears welling in their eyes as they used Imus to attempt to propel themselves to fame and fortune. Teh I man speaks teh truth. They truly are nappy headed hos.

When Imus appeared on Sharpton's show, Sharpton trotted out his own daughter, who stood there visibly uncomfortable while Sharpton harangued Imus further. That smacks less of legitimate issue and more of clumsily-handled media-circus race vendetta. He's playing 'gonna get u sucka' over some broadcasted symbols when he could probably actually be getting somewhere by handing out food and books. I've never paid much attention to him but I'm beginning to understand why so many seem to consider him a histrionic grandstander.

What's interesting about this case is I've never seen anyone apologize so much for such an innocuous remark and still meet with such unabated fury. Evidently 'nappy-headed' has racial overtones, but if that's true, it's news to me. Sharpton would have you think 'wanna-be' is a racial slur too, which means lots of people are in trouble and don't know it.

Why this is an issue at all is beyond me. If Al Sharpton wants to be anything more useful than a media house niger, he ought to start taking the rap/hip hop community to task for it's objectification and degradation of women. The 'You people' Imus spoke of after this dust-up have more to fear from within than from without these days.
