Probably the biggest difference is that some people are very straight up and honest about it whereas others lie by saying nothing. So it may not, in fact, be a big difference but more of a 'these two things are not even remotely alike' deal. Sort of like your meep and meep.

The difference isn't even that I'm honest about it.

It's that Digg apparently takes great pains to be a democratic community and these folks are taking pay from a third party to subvert that, which is presumably a slap in the face to all the users who started freaking out a few months ago when Digg's cherished democratic conventions were being upset by the admins making choices.

On the other hand, this is a website that I maintain and finance out of my own pocket, and if I decide to place ads on it, go meep yourself.

I myself find it a bit humorous and ironic, in a mostly silly way, that you'll sit here and meep about the content and the decisions I make, but continue to send me money every month to be a part of it, meanwhile submitting a lite version of same formulaic drivel we saw from beachgoat.

I don't think my reaction is all that out of line. I have been a member here for a year and a lurker for a few before that and the recent porn link was the first time I have ever seen Vasudeva claim he was getting paid for a link. I guess it might have made me a tiny bit sad but it was mostly just a head scratch and thoughts of 'that's unusual'.

I obviously didn't care enough to comment about it then but when he posted a link a week later criticising people for doing the same thing, I found it a bit ironic and humorous.

As for me being a beachgoat meepgot, the fact that I pay every month to be an alpha member, and the whole SO WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE? angle after my words, they are completely irrelevent to the argument I have made and little more than FALLACY.
