Steorn's Free Energy Claim

Too good to be true.

Following the validation process, Steorn intends to license its technology to organisations within the energy sector. It will allow use of its technology royalty-free for certain purposes

So this free, perfect enery will be licenced to our electric companies, so they can continue raping us in the meep??

I say publish the technology for free, have everyone build a generator in their home, or whatever :)

Ah, the perpetual motion machine scam... It never gets old, apparently. It just keeps going, and going, and going, and...

FREE CLUE:

'Steorn decided to publish its challenge in The Economist because of the breadth of its readership. 'We chose it over a purely scientific magazine simply because we want to make the general public aware that this process is about to commence and to generate public support, awareness, interest etc for what we are doing.-

In other words:

'Please someone send us great whopping gobs of cash quick, before the scientific community publishes the obvious flaw in our research, making your investment capital worthless, except for the interest we've collected in our private accounts for the nine months it took the findings to be publicized.'

Now, I suppose it's just possible that I could be wrong. Then again, it's just possible that monkeys might come flying out of my meep in the next 10 seconds. Let's see...

I suppose that's a likely interpretation... but do you suppose the Economist would be the best place for that?

Well, actually I have no idea. I know spit about The Econimist. However, this does not appear to have been the first release of this particular information.
