Oh goody. I wonder if all the soldiers in Iraq will just up and leave that meephole or if they'll draft to make up the difference. Neither would surprise me at this point.

SN, I don't think they plan to put many boots on the ground in Iran. They'll likely use the branches of our military that aren't currently over taxed:tThe Navy and the Air force.

If we invade Iran, and I personally believe that we eventually will, there will be a draft. It'll be different than before though. They'll draft college kids in tech feilds as well as the poor kids. They will also draft prior military up to 40 years old. At least that's the buzz in the anti-war circles.

This mess isn't getting smaller, it's getting bigger.

If we go into Iran, North Korea will go into South Korea... then China will want Tiawan and then all meep breaks loose. The entire asian contenent wants Japans meep.

This is going to be ugly.

This is the end, and no one will do anything. As Huxley said, as long as people have bread and circuses, there will be no revolts.

Very disturbing thooughts here. All well founded, and that's what makes them so scary.

I e-mailed this article to all my American friends, so they have a chance to read it. I don't think they're going to like it all that much.

Alot of people are pretty pissed off about Iraq now - I'm not so sure the administration could get away with swindling congressional approval for another preemptive invasion.

We're already at war. I don't believe Bush will need congressional approval if he can 'prove' Iran is deeply involved in the fighting in Iraq. Like this artical seems to... If they're involved in the insurgency, we're already at war with them.

Military operations inside of Iran would not be legal without congressional approval. But you may be right; there have been reports (denied by the admin) of covert operations inside Iran - and after all, Nixon and Kissinger were bombing Cambodia long before anyone else, including congress, knew about it.

Wotak: 'JFK tried that. It was called 'The Bay Of Pigs' fiasco.'

yeah, so? that failed because of fear of ussr involvement. I don't think that's an issue any longer. ronald reagan won the cold war, right? soviet union collapsed economically at ronald reagan's command. ronald reagan defeated communism, right? why do we allow a communist dictator to violate the human rights of cubans so close to our great democracy?

The war in iraq is to liberate iraqis from their evil dictator(this week anyway). If that's the standard by wich we invade other nations... the list is LONG. Why not begin with threats to humanity closest to home?

There's no oil in Cuba barch.

C'mon, we all know what this meep is really about. Just take a walk down to the corner gas station and take a look at the prices on the pumps. The more control the US has over oil, the more money the big businesses that own this country stand to make. Create a threat of losing your oil supply and you tip the scales of supply and demand in a favorable manner for those with the supply.

The Saudis are down with the whole idea because it also ups their profit margin.

I don't disagree with you about Cuba and other meeped up places, but you gotta understand. This isn't a war to free anybody. It's about money and gaining control of oil wells.

Americans are getting meeped over just like Iraqis are. The problem is, the Christeo-Redneck Americans that put this assmeep of a preznit in office are to meeping blinded by their religious moral and political agendas to see the truth.

For a while, the 'IT'S ABOUT OIL' rationale made me cringe. Then I read this week that Exxon posted record profits, while gas prices hit record highs (maybe not counting for inflation?).

And meep, Cuba? What about China? If we're going to meep with countries that have human rights violations, why don't we actually take a stand? The Cuba issue is to appease the morons who still think communism is an imminent threat. As if CUBA is going to destroy America. But China--they actually do pose a threat, are communist, and have human rights violations. We just wouldn't want to meep anything up with an economic juggernaut.

This meep is scary. I'm gonna go take some happy pillz. cause my face is all :`( now.

This isn't really new news though. We've been hearing this drum beat ever since the invasion.

Disaster Squared

Google 'Iran is next' and you'll find articals like this one going back to the date of the invasion.

''It is true that weapons clearly, unambiguously, from Iran have been found in Iraq,' Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said last week.'

Is it also clearly, unambiguously true that there are biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Hmm?

Invading Iran would require a lot of boots on the ground. Until there is a functioning draft in place to make up for the next 150,000 troops to invade and occupy, it just doesn't seem all that plausible.

Bah, we've got boots all over the world that could be shipped in.

But when we invade, it'll be lead by the Navy. Just look at the terrain and the geography of Iran. They're gonna pound that country from the air and sea for months before they send in boots.

Wotak: 'I'll tell you this much because I can't say a lot, but according to recent contracts my company has taken for the Navy... they're gearing up for something.'

I live below the flight path between lakehurst naval air station and iraq/ iran (MUCH closer to lakehurst than iraq). there has been a dramatic increase in the number of very large military planes flying over my house the past week or two.

I also live a little more than a mile from a nuclear power plant. air space around which has been restricted (10 miles I think) since sept 11, 2001. So, I'm pretty certain that these are not commercial airlines.

Our Naval contract has an insane timeline. About half the development to production launch time we usually get.

I'm guessing they'll put the Navy on the two wet borders allowing them to fly over from all four sides. Artillary on the Afghan and Iraq borders and they already have air bases up and functioning there.

When they send in boots and tanks, it'll be launched from all four directions.

doesn't china hold a lot of american debt?

how much more would an iran invasion cost? isn't the u.s. getting a little over extended as it is?

yes, i think n. korea is a wild card, the joker

Yes, but China's recent industrial growth and the fact that they're putting cars on the roads at record pace, means they are going to become our number one competitive buyer in the oil market before to long.

Corporate America wants to control that oil before they get to that point.

Thus, we are killing Americans and Iraqis at about the same pace that the Chinese are putting automobiles on the roads of their industrial revolutionary era.

China will soon become the Russia we once feared.

It's a never ending cycle.

'Dou you hear that Mr. Anderson? That... is the sound of inevitability.' Do nothing or get off your duff, USA.
