Why all the effort?
You know M_A_M, You raised a good question in the shoutbox: Why am I doing this?
Short answer: No f#kkin' clue.
As BeachGoat said: Most of us are broken in some way.
It's just part of the human experience.
(Feces HAS been known to occur.)
But being human, the best among us will take those scars and turn them into talent and personality. -Gain strength from them, grow and share.
We are flawed social animals, we NEED people to know it.
Which is why I think, people squander their time and talent on others.
You've all spent ludicrous amounts of mental effort coming up with just the right thing to say on birthday cards, witty comebacks on posts here, thrown bags of money into things like fancy cars, expensive dates, nice clothes, trips to wherever...when really deep down, you just don't see the point, other than to be seen.
Sometimes we find ourselves throwing our all into the void and hoping that just one or two of the thankless meeps we care about will see that we're doing it for them.
But this ends up being a GOOD thing.
Broken people are the ones with the motivation to create community, innovation, art , charity, culture, etc...
The people without scars just aren't invested in the outcomes.
So the way I see it; right now there's nobody other than you and my spoiled rotten offspring in my life (I haven't sucmeepb to the cult of Facebook yet) So my slightly damaged little self has decided to gift the few voices in the ether that have kept me company with the fruits of my (quite possibly misguided) effort to perfect my art and make some kind of mark on the world.
The best gift I can think of giving: Real-Life ADVENTURE and LOOT; Which in my opinion rank up there with with finding true love(citation needed) and finally nailing that m#therf#cking camper that's been sniping the meep out of you on Battlefield.
("Hey XXmeepbaggang$terXX, I got your sorry meep, didn't I?!" -Spanky Jr.)
This'll probably be the only time I do an event this big(for obvious reasons) so all of you that can make it, please come.
Cold, detached sanity could come bursting back in at any time.

It's because he's the kind of badass who actually does stuff instead of sitting around talking about it. Mad props.

My friend ( & Bro) that I hadn't seen since 1976 is coming with his new woman and her 15 year old daughter, the "Purple Pirate". This IS of wonder and Magic, and after doing all six runs yesterday, I must say that it is well worth the effort. Show up for this one, you silly meeps. Take a plane, train, or automobile. If we have to do a shuttle run from the SLO Amtrak, we will. Just GET HERE! You have a few months to plan.
EPIC BEYOND YOUR meepING DREAMS!

You sound like my mom, on the rag, martyring herself over the holiday feast. Unappreciated slaving away for thankless meeps and spoiled rotten children.

It's a fair enough comparison.
Except yer mum isn't going to enjoy the meep out of getting you seriously f#cked up then running you around in the dark of night in a highly stinging nettle, poison oak and hemlock infested area(did I mention the wildlife?) traversing twisty, barely-there trails, jumping chasms, scaling cliffsides and hurredly exploring caves for (sometimes quite heavy) loot before the tide rolls in and drowns ye.
I'll bring an apron to wring so's you'll feel at home.

I dont know if you ever got my reply to your pm spanky, but I get the whole thing and if I could be there I'd be doing as much as I could to help out, I get it. Unfortunately there's someone arriving at our our place around that date that kind of takes precedence over all else. If the offer still stands next year at pirate party 2.1 then I'm in and you guys will be able to take in some real british officer class.

@saltpeter
Once again, it's the weekend before Halloween; October 27th and 28th in Montana De Oro State Park
There's no fee for entry, but sides and regular drinks(we've already got booze and I'm doing some pulled pork) are welcome and appreciated.(PM me if you do so we don't all bring the same thing)
Pirate costumes aren't mandatory, but I'll be damned if I let somebody hunt for treasure without at least THE HAT.
(C'mon it's the week before f#kkin' HALLOWEEN. They've even got 'em in the supermarket aisles for chrissakes.)
@nurglets
Yes I got your message. Don't sweat it. Congrats, by the way.
Be sure to tell the little meep you passed up a pirate chest because you already had a treasure coming.
Pirate Party 2.1?...Maybe, but not to the extent this one's going to. (The kids'll be starting college.)

I'm going to be there Friday setting up the campsites.
(I'm sleeping in a hotel room though.)
Speaking of setting up, does anyone have a kayak they can bring?
It would be uber useful.
