Photostreaming some more
Latest batch of shots I've taken. Brief description included.
part one, derelict farmstead abandoned due to encroaching mining/tipping operations:

part 2, on and over the tips themselves including old scrap left to rust from the processing operations:

part 3, some bunkers, buildings and tower anchors for a ww2 radar station part of the chain network:

I'm thinking about taking all the photos I've taken along the theme of wastelands and abandonment and making a photo book out of them, including these,and these among others. Sort of a counter-view to the stereotypical image that Cornwall has. If you saw it in a local art fair, would you at least pick it up and have a look?

I would, too. If it wasn't too expensive, I might even buy it.

I think if you kept as close as possible to the abandonment theme with your selections it would do quite well.
Some of them really kind of reach out to me. I'm just an average sort of guy, so I imagine they would catch other peoples eye too. You'd probably have to sell your house and car to do it, but people pay a pretty penny for large format coffee table books.

What about an eBook distributed via Amazon? If it does well, plow the proceeds into a print production. If it flops, you had to the same amount of editing and Illustrator work to make it ready for press.

I love the thought of wandering ghost-like through these lost and forsaken places, seeing the lingering signs of care and craftsmanship in the buildings and the hints of human dramas.
I would buy totally buy it.

@Crapalicious
I'm open to critique and suggestions
@BigDinWaunakee @godevillivedog
the plan is to use blurb as an online publisher type, they have a handy design/uploading tool, I've used it before, vas got a photo book via there from me as last years sekrit santa. They don't take any costs out until someone actually buys one. The profit margin is meep unless you charge a lot but I'm not really out for profit, just yet.
@pepper @dragonstaff @spankerchief thanks
@MstrLance totally

nurgs... Is the eBook portable from blurb into other formats, such as Kindle, etc.? Sorry, I'm not up on eBook standards/formats, but I am looking at a pretty large market via Amazon. Not sure what the upfront costs are via that route.

Kindle format would be kind of useless for a photo book, but blurb charge a one off fee of 1.99 to make it an epub format and then it's free to advertise and you get 100% of sales after that. Not sure what amazon fees are yet. I'm more after a physical copy and blurb do basic paperback up to nice hardback with linen dust jackets, the main attraction is no upfront fees for me and onsite advertising/selling. I'd just throw out the link here and there to get people's attention

Some really great work.
I admire the the ability of people who know how to wield a camera
with artistic intent,giving beauty to raw and ugly.
