Making FIRE (AKA: Boring-meep pipe burner tuning)
This is the guts of my propane pipe burner that's going into the Buffalo.

I drilled four 1/4 inch holes around the rim of a 1" pipe cap, drilled and tapped a hole for a 1/4" pipe nipple and drilled and tapped a 1/4" cap to fit a .045 MIG tip:

They fit together like so:

I cut slots in a 1" black iron pipe 4" from the end and every 1-1/2" thereafter:

I welded a cap on the far end and screwed the venturi onto the pipe. Then I connected a high-pressure regulator to a small propane tank and connected the pipe and tank with a 5' hose.

Now we're ready to test.
At low fire, it was looking good:

...but turning it up made it do this:

...And so we adjust...
Switched to a .035 tip:

Drilled two of the inlets a little bigger:

There we go.

Spank, are you the god of machines? Or do you let them fondle you? Because they seem to bow down to your every whim.

Oh meep no.
There are kids out there that could take one look at my rig and calculate the orifice size, slot distances, figure out the BTU's, gas usage and convert it all to calories and metric units in their heads.
I have to stupidly test and adjust, retest, readjust...
Machines fight me tooth and nail.
My only saving grace is persistance and a savage willingness to tear meep completely apart, cannablize other projects, spend a meep ton of money for parts and just generally fight dirty to get it to work.
I probably need to get laid.
I made four trips to three different hardware stores today(Tractor Supply, Lowes and Home Depot) and spent about $80 for all the parts.
Flaming sword I can do but porting a blade takes a long time and a fat little lantern bottle of propane is gonna make a funny-looking big-meep pommel.
I still have to figure out where to put the igniter and where to actually install the burner on this build.

I've been watching the Buffalo go for the last hour.
The venturi is barely warm.
High fire temp is 400+
Low fire holds steady at 260(a little high)
I'll weld some of the slots shut on the burner and that should fix it. :)

Good place to roast the peppers, sear the outside of pan goodies like stuffed chops & Chicken Cordon Bleu that require a good browning in some oil (read meeper) and sherry or brandy before cooking the rest of the way over the slow, smoky goodness of the main chamber. Not to mention things like pilaf, sautee'd mushrooms, coffee, fried eggs, and all that meep that you just can't do otherwise.
Genius...Great Job!

For the flaming sword, would one of those gas-powered soldering iron work?

Oddly enough, I gave it some thought and came up with a model.

You'd need to take a butane torch like this:
Break it down to the pressure vessel.(The charging port is already located on the bottom)
Modify the top to mount securely or sheathe the whole vessel in a cylinder to be used as a handle.
Cut out and slightly concave a set of, say...18 guage stainless steel sword shapes with notches all around the outline.
Bend the notches 90 in on the concave sides, then tack weld the halves together to make a manifold in the shape of a sword.(Be sure to include some closed area near the handle where the air inlet will be; close behind the nozzle of your modified torch)
It might look something like this:

That's what I was talkin' about!
The only possible issue that I see is getting enough gas pressure to light the full length of your sword. A Flaming Dagger just doesn't have the same ring to it somehow.

i am always in awe of the mechanically gifted. I was thinking if you might want to make a shield/cover for the flame so meat juices don't drip ll over it.

That's a good point.
A shield might help with a little problem I'm having.
I couldn't decide if I wanted the burner slots up or down...
Slots up makes it easier to light and maintains lower flame better without going out.
Slots down makes for less clogging and spreads the flame out more.
The pipe is just resting in the Buffalo through a hole in the side atm.
I was planning on welding a meep to the venturi end of the pipe so that I could bolt it to the side of the Buffalo (on either side of the opening). (o O o)
There'd be little mounts inside for the pipe to rest on, but you could unbolt the meep and just pull it straight out for cleaning/repair and also flip the pipe over if necessary.

@DragonLance

I think there's an easier way to get a fire sword.
You could get a small Mapp gas bottle like this;
and plug it into a small weed burner like this;
Cut or bend the tube straight, make the blade(manifold) like I described earlier and reconnect the in-line igniter in a recess in therein to light it.
It might look something like this:
There's other good parts to be used too, if you're okay with a hose being attached:

Anyway, I like the idea, but I'm too busy right now to do this project.
I can definitely help get you through it if you've got the fortitude to try this yourself...

Nonono. The fuel tank should be larger and worn as a backback with a tube connecting to the bottom of the handle. Sure you're sacrificing maneuverability, but it's a mothermeeping fire sword. It should also be rigged so that the flow of fuel increases as you extend the sword away from you. Close to user: Small flame. Close to enemy: HUGE FLAME.
kicks legs up on desk. lights cigar
Oh, and I want to be able to light cigars with it.
Good day, gentlemen.
