Sounds normal, but you might want to talk to your tattoo dude as obviously he will know about this. I suggest immediate attention as screwing up the healing process screws up the tat, as I understand it.

PETROLEUM JELLY, Neosporin promotes scabbing. You don't want scabbing because it will take ink with it as it falls off.

Neosporin is essential for the first day or two. A tattoo is an open wound and needs to be protected from bacteria, you meepplugs. After the first couple of days, switch to Aquaphor or any other moistening cream that doesn't have petroleum in it. Avoid any cream with Cetyl or Cetearyl alcohol (Eucerin) or it will make the pain 10x worse.

after having 7 tattoos by various artists, all of them had different advice on healing, but all agreed that vaseline was a bad idea. preperation H, bepanthen (nappy rash cream) and a french brand of wound/burn cream have all been prescribed, the best being the wound cream as it allowed it to breath, whilst keeping it clean and free from infection.

all 7 tat's scabbed to a degree, some more than others, none lost any color due to it but i was certain not to pick any off prematurely.

all hurt for some time after, more/longer if they were bigger ones, but mainly just like a bad sunburn, that gets a bit sticky.

as long as you arent going swimming or sunbathing/tanning and not washing it too vigorously then you'll be fine. the worst bit is realising in the morning you've slept on a fresh wound, and you're now stuck to the bedsheets/clothes. heh...

Your tatt looks fine, just continue to keep it loooooobed and do not pick the scabs, let them fall off. If you pick a scab, you're going to allow the blood wash out the ink. Worst comes to worst, once it's healed your artist can do a little touching up free of charge when you do your next sitting.

A guy I know was complaining about his fresh tat burning. I went in his bathroom and he was using lotion with Alpha-Hydroxy Acid in it. LOL!

I've always been told to use bacitracin ointment on a fresh tattoo, no worries though. Looks great!

Not 'Vaseline' , but rather Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. The inks dry the skin,a reaction to the invading ink. VIC lotion helps it retain the moisture,hence keeping the tat pristine.
