Today is a Good Day
In light of the recent passing of our fellow swarmer, Magicchex, and well, the manner of his passing, I thought I would share today with you meeps.
I've done this before but feel it is super-relevant this year.
The past five years I've been sober have blown by for the most part.
This last year has been gnarly.
A good friend of mine, after almost 5 years sober, decided to drink and shoot up again. Brandy is dead.
A close co-worker of mine, took some methadone and never woke up. Sharon is dead.
I am meeping stoked on my life and am living a/the dream right now, not working, just going to school and being crazy-successful at it.
All while 'suffering' from a chronic, progressive, deadly illness, and if I had to pick a deadly disease to suffer from, It would certainly be alcoholism/addiction.
I mean, what other chronic illness can be instantly put into remission by just doing a few simple things(the most important of which is not drinking/using)?
My only dilemma today is deciding if I'd like to be an attorney or get my Ph.D because I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
