Annual Minnesota Trip: Hibbing Incident, Bob Dylan Sucks, Friendships End
So, I take my annual trip to Minnesota. I stay at a cabin on Big Sandy Lake, about 70 miles west of Duluth. I've discussed my love of Duluth, and Big Sandy and all that before, so I will try to be as brief as I can.
I didn't want to pay the non-resident fee for fishing this year, as I didn't want to catch and clean Northern Pike, so I finally agreed to a day trip to Hibbing. The first thing I looked up was Bob Dylan's childhood home:

Don't it look Bob Dylan-ey?
Hibbing was a rich town back in the day, and has an awesome CCC/WPA built high school a few blocks away. You can always tell formerly rich towns from the architecture. Anyways...
From there we went a few blocks away to the Hull Rust Mahoning Mine, a Taconite mine 105 years old, and the largest open pit mine in the world. It is an environmental nightmare, and something that will never happen in the U.S. ever again. They still use it, but it goes down, not out, these days. The picture and vids I took do not do this any justice. This pit is 3 miles long and two miles wide. Whole town disappeared during it's creation:

Here is couple of crappy vids that do no justice. The dump truck in the second vid is one of those huge trucks with wheels as tall as a house:

We ate at a tavern in Hibbing, and some fat, old meep told me how he went to school with Bob, and how he was a freak and a loner with no friends, and that everbody hated him. I told this fat meep this is exactly why Bob left Hibbing upon graduation, and always professed a hatred for Minnesota ever since. I left about 5 minutes later, concerned for my health. I also saw this, the Mighty Mississippi River"

Looks like a meepgot little stream so close to the headwaters.
Anyway, this is my last trip, as my friendship with someone suffered a turn from which there is no return. I'm glad I spent a few years there, and I'm really meeping glad I live in Wisconsin, and not Minnesota. At least our poor rednecks are friendly, and glad to see strangers. Those meepers in Minnesota can rot in their own misery, I say.
That is all, and God Bless.

Nothing so exciting. Friend from old turns into "judgmental meep", and loses all respect from me. All I can say is this; If someone has the time to form an opinion on how I live my life, they have too much time on their hands. I have lost no privileges, but am in effect boycotting. Both parties' voices will fall on deaf ears. :)

you're deaf now? that must really suck after just getting your eyes back from the shop.
I'm surprised Bob's house is still standing, the residents obviously have a deep dislike for him after the year's of him publicly hating Minnisota

I often think about your hatred of drunken stranger small talk. I was actually trying to be Vasudeva-like when I confronted the meep in the bar. It almost got me killed.
Thanks.

Warning! Do not attempt "Vasudeva like" behavior in real life unless you are actually Vasudeva.

Drunken stranger small talk sure beats the meep out of sober stranger small talk, for cases where I am the stranger.
