Sons a meepes
The Saturday before last I ordered three items to repair my boat engine from masonmarine.com. I chose to save $40 and go with the 7-10 ground shipping instead of the 3-4 day. They sent me an email last Thursday notifying me that my order had been shipped. It arrived in the mail yesterday. So, it only took 3 postal days to get my order from Pasadena, CA to my door step in NJ. (The 7-10 day shipping was them sitting on the order for FIVE days before putting it in the mail.)
Yesterday's mail brought one of the three items I ordered. This had me a bit confused since the email they sent said that my order had been shipped and not that one third of my order had been shipped or part of my order had been shipped.
So, I sent them an email this morning seeking clarification. They apologized for the misunderstanding and informed me that the other two parts were "back ordered". They credited my credit card for the difference and will notify me when the parts are available and I will have the opportunity to reorder then.
They also changed the details of my order history to show only the part that was shipped. The other two parts are no longer in my order history. It's as if I had never ordered them.
Note that all changes to my order status and history were made after they received my email this morning. Also, the credit to my credit card was made today. Were they going to make these changes if I had not contacted them? Why didn't the email they sent last week explain that the order was being shipped incomplete and advise me of changes to my account and order history? Were they expecting me to have forgotten what I had ordered and how much I was charged for it?

similarly i recently ordered a macbook and a few accessories from apple's own website. though ordering them all at once and being guaranteed 24 hour shipping they were all shipped at least 3 days apart. one from shanghai, one from tennesse, and another from somewhere in california. i ended up waking up 10 minutes late for a delivery and the fedex driver left a note on my door telling me to call him. i ended up meeting him in an old navy parking lot just after his lunch break to pick up the package instead of waiting an extra day. things these days just dont seem to make much sense.

But being an educated portly white middle-aged midwest male with the mild latent homomeepual tendencies of ennui only afforded by those in a lazily patriarchal trade field of privilege and race assurance, barch is the man. How now, brown cow?
