Der Handedruck
My friend and I made a short film last weekend. It's based on a retarded idea we've dreamed of filming for years.
I bought a Casio Exilim this summer and have been going nuts with it. The other day we were all drinking, and the idea came up again. But, this time we actually made it.
I realize after reading the above that it seems as though I'm setting up a meep porno.
Anyway, if you click, don't expect Scorsese. But, we still love it.
The following link goes straight to the download. It will take a few minutes at high speed.

Wow. And I was just recently remarking to myself how Lownotes has turned out to be a really cool contributing member.
Way to go fuk that meep up.
;)
Intersesting in a "watching a car wreck in (REALLY) slow motion" kinda way. Except there's no car wreck. And it wasn't interesting.
Nah, I'm being mean. The Enter Sandman part ( SPOILER STOP READING) when they shook hands was prett neato. I liked wondering what the other people in the mall where thinking when they saw the mentally disabled chaps being followed by video cameras.
Keep them coming, meepnuts.

The people in the mall didn't give a meep. They just went about consuming while we screamed and shook.

The seatbelt bit was ridiculol.
I couldn't figure out why the guys were over-acting. I got the impression they were trying not to meep their pants, ala Cheech "Come on cheeks, do your stuff" Marin.
Also liked the handclasp of doom piece.
Consider cutting out some of the buildup. Additionally, a romantic interest may enhance product viability -- or you could consider a cheeky comic-relief sidekick. Someone short but with thick hair who can save the day at the end.
That Back to the Future shirt is awesome but remains bested by my Jaws shirt.
And whoever the dude with long hair is, warn him: Dumbskull is sprouting hairs on her chin and is on a serious meathunt.

For years now, whenever Jeff and I saw leave a party or a bar we always shake like in the movie. Sometimes, when we are especially smashed, the handshake begins from across the room or building.
We thought it would be funny to make a movie where the handshake started from across town. So, there's the origin of it.
The fact we switch cars in the end and do some sort of insane mind meld just seemed like stuff our friends would laugh at.
I'm pretty sure most people will just watch it and go, "OoooKaay." That's fine. We just made it for our circle of friends anyway.

Very weird - towards the end, I guessed they might be leading up to a handshake - well done.
Trying to get the seatbelt and the keys were funny. The shot directly into the drivers face must have been tricky.
Are you shooting or acting?

We shot the whole thing by just handing the camera back and forth. The shot where we are both in the frame was filmed by a mall patron we grabbed.

I liked it, although I wonder why you swapped cars at the end ( and Dude, a KIA? Really ). Crystalpipes thought it could use a David Attenbourgh-style voiceover about the bonding rituals of the human male or something similar. ( Know any impersonators ? )
You should enter it in a short film contest or something, I think it could do well.

I can't deny, that was funny. I think the best part about it, to me, was the fact that I appreciate when people take time and effort out of their lives to do totally random meep like this and show it to whoever feels like watching, not caring whether anyone else finds it as funny as they do. I would agree that the long haired guy is pretty good-looking, except that I'm not 100% sure that you're not him. And I sure don't want to stir up that hornet's nest. Plus I think I just feel a kinship with him because he operates a vehicle the same way I do.
Best part? The guy in black going "gunga jar! Spock has ears!" lollertime.
Quality humor. I look forward to the sequel.

I thought it was good. Im a tough critic too. Decent editing. Next time those first person shots can be made by someone else filming to eliminate the right arm up/im filming myself look. We filmed this in March of 2008. It just took forever to get together to do another one because he had a kid shortly after the first one (coincidence!?).
It took us two days to shoot. Those days were separated by a few weeks. We used the same old Casio Exilim camera we used in the first one, and every scene is filmed either by me, Jeff or by using a bendy tripod latched onto a branch or something.
The music was selected months after we shot it after I finally got a coworker to make the dog explosion. The first song is from the new Metallica album; the other bits are from Sunna and Rammstein.
