Go see the Science Museum and the MFA. Take a Duck Tour, walk through Faneuil Hall. Go to the observatory at the top of Prudential, look around.

a friend of mine is going to beantown in aug. as well, she lives in toronto. she wants to see the edward hopper exhibit at the museum of fine arts

It helps to know someone who lives there. Thats how you find all the best shit. Try Faneuil Hall of course, the Commons, Harvard Square...depends on your interests, I suppose.
