I Quit Smoking
01-12-2007 at 05:28 pm

After riding my new bike all of a mile and getting fucking winded, I've decided to quit smoking. I've been smoking for about 4 years. Sometimes reaching a pack a day, but on average, 1/2 pack a day. I know that I haven't smoked enough to curse my lungs forever, but I think now would be a good time to stop smoking and start treating my body a little better. Now, I don't forsee having withdrawals, but in the event I do - what advice do you guys have?

I know this might work better as a thread, but I want to keep this journal as something I can look back on a year from now and go "wow, I haven't smoked since then? damn"

(Also: pot doesn't count, but I barely touch that these days anyway)

I yelled at my family and stuffed my face with Doritos for a year; I chewed a shit load of gum as well. I don’t know if it helps any, but I had my teeth cleaned the first day of quitting. Good Luck!

ghostrider       01-12-2007, 05:40 pm
Oh shit dude, you CAN do it.

I have 20 years under my belt, I won't tell you how many packs per day, that's just crazy.

Fucking bite your lip and ride it out. I wish smokes were like weed, I get a sack and don't even touch it for two weeks. I can say, with all knowledge and honesty, that the lungs get worse and the ability to stop gets weaker every day, week, month, year.

You should keep this journal updated. LinkSwarm support group ? (I know, in my dreams)

Jawlessjoe       01-12-2007, 05:43 pm
Find your replacement now. You need something to do instead of take a drag. The physical hurdle is passed after a few days. But the mental habit is what makes it so hard.

Ideas;

Pretzel Sticks (works well)
Lifesavers (Mint kind)
Jolly Ranchers
Cigars

And every time you think "I'll go snag one and that's it" remember how we'll all think you're a pussy when you write that you bitched out...

Good luck buddy

Infectionconnection       01-12-2007, 07:05 pm
switch to nicorette. You might stay addicted to the nicotine, but at least it wont fuckup your lungs.

Jawlessjoe       01-12-2007, 07:20 pm
But it can still give you gum-cancer. And that's just as fucked

jwalker       01-12-2007, 07:28 pm
I am in no position to give advise, other than to say I am still smoking after nearly thirty years, and judging from my condition quiting is probably a pretty good idea. Maybe I will follow your example, when I catch my snap.

Let us know how it goes.

wrecker       01-12-2007, 07:55 pm
Nobody likes a quitter.

dent       01-12-2007, 11:50 pm
Jon "I know that I haven't smoked enough to curse my lungs forever"

That's a rather dumb statement, don't you think? I'm not sure, but I don't think that their is a cut-off date on when your body decides that it wants to get cancer, heart problems, high blood pressure and a bunch of other diseases attributed to smoking.

I've also figured out after a decade of pot smoking that it caused just as much lung issues (shortness of breath) as cigarettes did. I quit toking 3 years ago, solely because of martial arts training and testing. I couldn't fucking breath, especially when smoking shit weed.

I don't agree with giving up smokes and taking up cigars, because you'll probably end up addicted and inhaling the smoke, which is horrible for your lungs and makes you smell like a 70 year-old sailor.

I found that not quitting was much easier.

God luck.

Jawlessjoe       01-13-2007, 06:25 am
dent - Fucking kidding about cigars ;)

Oh, and as for weed, yeah, it hurts too. Just not as many carcinagins.

And as for "no big damage yet", I know that lungs do 'heal' a little after you quit. It's not magic or shit, but if there are no lesions or abscesses or lumps yet, now is the time to quit. Because once you get those, THEN you're already fucked pretty good.

At least I think that is what fuck-tard was talking about

nurgleming       01-13-2007, 06:44 am
personally, when i gave up, i just went straight cold turkey, get a few days of chemical withdrawal, then a while of psychological withdrawal and trying to get out of the habit (i had a pavlovian type need, everytime i drive, i still want a ciggarette)

i tried cutting down from 2 packs a day to 1 or half a pack, but it just drew out the process, just get some balls and do it the quick and painful way.

oh yeah, i also had a damn good reason, i just found out the little woman is pregnant.

metatron       01-13-2007, 11:06 am
based upon the community response, the solution is clear - get your girlfriend pregnant, yell at her, and chew skoal. your lungs will thank you. in the future, consider changing your name to jawless_jon.

Jawlessjoe       01-13-2007, 12:34 pm
Fuck you for the underscore. It's Jawlessjon or he can't join the club.

Oh, and my name is Mike by the way ;)

JohnLenin       01-15-2007, 10:32 pm
So, it's been a few days now. I keep tinking 'time to get smokes' then quickly realize I'm not smoking, or I'll think about reaching in my pocket for a box that isn't there. I even had a dream the other night that I made it most of the way through a pack before I caught myself with a 'wtf?!' moment. I bought a ten pack of trident sugarless whitening gum that was on sale as something to help with whatever oral fixation I still might have [insert joke here]. I haven't had an attitude or anything like that, but I have been getting antsy from time to time. Overall, I give these relics of my past two weeks tops (hopefully), and I'm feeling pretty good about it. Thanks for the advice (and non-advice) and I will keep this updated as I see fit. I also encourage anyone else who has been thinking of quitting to join me in doing so, I liked Ghostie's support group idea - so why not?

magicchex       01-15-2007, 11:12 pm
When I quit, the first step was to take a week where I was NOT allowed to smoke in the "habit" moments, such as while driving, after eating, after sex, etc. After that it was easy. Any "withdrawls" are bullshit. Go through opiate withdrawl and get back to me.

Anyways, get rid of those habit moments and it's really easy after that. But you'll pick it up again.

Jawlessjoe       01-16-2007, 12:24 am
100% right about the habit moments.

The addiction is next to nothing. I've had worse feelings coming off of caffeine or that one time I ate like 10 slim jims for dinner and almost died

shitbox       01-17-2007, 06:16 pm
Interesting. I quit smoking about 8 weeks ago.
I smoked for over 10 years. A pack a day 'cept the times I was trying to quit.
Im using the patch right now and strongly suggest it over anyother nicotine replacement therapy if you plan on using one.
The gum and the lozenges still give you that 'reward' when you feel stressed or after you eat etc. The patch gives you a continuous dose so you can go about your business without having to 'dose' yourself.

Cold turkey sucks. The physical 'withdrawl' ends in a few days, but the psychological habit is what keeps yo ass going back. I had to change some of my routine, like tea in the morning instead of coffee for awhile or chewing gum in the car or punching peoples fucking faces the fuck off. All help.

Good luck swamps.

IMBOLCPunxsutawneyPhil       01-17-2007, 10:41 pm
I chime in too.

I've never quit, but I really never started either...

anyhow when I feel like cutting it the fuck out, I change habits.

Habits are what traps you and really the routine needs changing. And if you are on a health kick--instead of a smoke do some exercise.

Gyms can be full of hot women in spandex tights [or fat ones, ugly ones or gay men, or ugly fat gay men dressed as women in spandex tights...] anyhow, get out of your rut and change your routine and do something health giving.

if you normally take routine breaks, keep them, instead go outside and walk around or take a walking tour. Avoid the cig smoker spots and you are golden!

dent       02-12-2007, 08:50 am
Jon, Shitbox, how's the quitting going?

I quit last week, and have been on the patch since. These things freakin' suck. It's making me really sick to my stomach, anxious and my dreams are intense which causes me to wake up with mega-sweats. But, it curbs the appetite for smoke, so I guess I should just deal with it.

mundhra       02-12-2007, 09:40 am
there's some a drug that i heard about on a local morning show. apparently it works really well and makes your dreams more vivid. damned if i know what it's called though; think it's play off of 'cessation'.

JohnLenin       02-12-2007, 09:50 am
In the past month I've had 5 cigs, and each one tastes progressively worse to me for some reason. We'll see how long I can go with 0.

Sidechain       02-12-2007, 10:30 am
I haven't quit yet (because I'm a loooooser), but I've had several people swear by Wellbutrin. They prescribe it to you, and you keep smoking while you're taking it, and you are not allowed to stop until your set quit date. All five people I know who have gone this route said that by two or three days before their quit dates, they were desperate to stop. One even called his doctor back and begged. 'Please can I stop now?' 'No', said the evil doctor, 'You have to keep smoking until Friday.'

The thing is, it really has been shown to work well, but no one, litterally no one has any idea how it works. They only know that it changes your brain chemistry somehow. A little disturbing that. Also, there is a risk of seizure which increases dramatically with alcohol... so I dunno 'bout that either.

Still...

mundhra       02-12-2007, 11:32 am
so fuking wrong on the name; chantix.

JohnLenin       02-12-2007, 12:04 pm
I read somewhere about psilocybin therapy. I wouldn't mind that.

hellkat       02-12-2007, 12:39 pm
Wellbutrin is an antidepressant. I does not have serotonin though. I took it for dpression and it caused wicked insomnia. I have a friend that quit cigs using it and swore by it.

I quit about 17 years ago with a 4-week hypnosis program. No withdrawal, it was worth EVERY PENNY I paid ($220 back then). Anyone I know who tried a single session hypnosis thing went back to smoking quickly. The 4-week program used the stopping of "habit momments" combined with the set quit date.

Good luck guys. Don't make me call you a candy-ass.

shitbox       02-13-2007, 11:52 pm
Still quit since last post.

Denthole!
The 21mg patch fucked me up too, heart palpatations and nausea! Good to hear I wasnt just a puss.
As for the wellbutrin/zyban, I took that when I quit last time for about 3 months, helped me alot. But then I got sober and started smoking again, go figure.

dent       02-22-2007, 10:13 am
Today I hit my 2-week mark with not smoking. I've been doing pretty good as far as cravings, but here and there I can still feel the anxiety when I find myself patting my pockets for a pack of smokes. This seems to only happen when driving or directly after a meal.

I'm back on the patch, but taking the 7mg now, because I enjoy not dying.

Quitnet says: Mike, you have NOT smoked 203 cigarettes in 2 weeks and saved $48.51, Congrats!

Sweet.

magicchex       02-22-2007, 01:57 pm
Does quitnet factor in the money you spent on those puss....patches?

dent       02-22-2007, 02:08 pm
No ma'am, because Quitnet bought them for me. They supply 8 weeks of it in the state of CO.

I quit real easy. I just stopped. A month later I had a craving, so I smoked a cigarette, and then I quit again. I have not smoked since.

Good luck, you're either going to do it, or not. It's all based on your personality and how much you smoke. I wasn't a heavy smoker.

fastlane       02-22-2007, 08:02 pm
Fifty- two days smoke free, bitches. Just replace nicotine with food. Next new years resolution is to lose weight.

dent       02-22-2007, 09:35 pm
Fucking impressive, all of you who quit.

!4 days smoke free, 3 year pot free, 9 years coke free, and like a half hour masturbation free.

djjaxon       03-03-2007, 12:32 am
If you are winded after only 4 years it is not the cigs, you are just in bad shape.

Smoke a joint everytime you want a cig, in a few days you won't even know what a cig is.

Ride your bike every time you have the urge to lite up.

If you smoke, smoke a brand you hate...really really hate.

Put all your butts in a jar and smell them every time you want another one.

Put a rubber band around your wrist and pop it hard so it hurts every time you think of smoking.

Become a junkie and spend all your money on smack so you can't buy a pack.

Stop slowly, smoke only 10 a day and only the ones that mean something (1st smoke of day, after a meal, ride to work, sex) then each week take one out of the mix 10, 9, 8, 7, in ten weeks you will only smoke one a day. I think one a day is good for you..it kills germs that live in your lungs.

Indians smoked for spiritual reasons: Tobacco is a curse put on the white man for deeds we did. Live at Peace with the world and you can quit right now, forever.

clavis_apocalypticae       03-05-2007, 12:00 pm
^^Srsly, WTF is that faggotry?

I'm with you nigers, and I feel your pain (sort of).

We quit yesterday at noon. After having smoked 1.5 to 2 packs a day for 23 years, I'm using the patch, and so far it hasn't been too bad. A couple of weak cravings aside, I'm enjoying being a non-smoker.

I feel a bit guilty that this is going relatively easily for me; my girlfriend smoked for only 10 years, and only a pack a day max, and she started going bugshit after only a couple of hours.

I just hope we can hang on; if we don't make it this time, it isn't going to get any easier next time.

Good luck to those of you who are quitting/recently quit. And better luck to those of you who still light up :>

Congrats Clavis - how's hellweek?

Congrats yerself, Missuh Dent.

It's been only semi-hellish. The cravings go away within like 15 seconds. I don't even really have to preoccupy myself to fight them anymore. We've washed nearly everything in the house to get rid of the smoke smell. After the dudes clean the carpets tomorrow, the place will be pretty well de-funkafied. Neither of us have committed homicide, so all is well, I guess.

How are you coping without tobacco?

vasudeva       03-26-2007, 12:10 pm
Thread is oddly timed. I just quit last night. Me and the LBP had been planning to quit this Wednesday, on the plane to Puerto Rico, but I ran out of smokes last night, have a head cold and a throat that was already sore before I smoked a shitload of cigarettes this weekend like a total dickhead, and I didn't feel like buying another couple packs just to stop, so I gave up my last one this morning unsmoked.

Had a couple of vague urges, pattern-based -- either while typing out great vitriolic posts on the Internet or just post-lunch -- but so far quitting is kind of the way it always has been; a non-event.

Dumbskull       03-26-2007, 02:19 pm
Get gum or something. patches work great. The first day is not so bad, the 2nd and 3rd days, are the worst. The urge to kill all the fucking morons will be stronger than the urge to smoke.

it's been like 36 hours. I had feared in the last handful of years I had managed to get well and truly hooked at last, but this is easy as shit.

I still think the reason quitting smoking is such a big deal is because people make it one.

I've had like 4 or 5 urges, a couple of interesting/amusing/mean-spirited cranky moments on the LBP, and that's about it.

clavis_apocalypticae       03-27-2007, 07:39 am

Being a nonsmoker is AWESOME. We're still using the patch, though I tried Sunday to go without it. I didn't feel like smoking but I was a complete crabass all day. I was ordered by The Supreme Commander to resume patching post-haste.

St. Patricks Day revelries were cut short by the quitting, unfortunately. The smell of smoke in the bars, the people around us smoking was all too much. We hung out for a couple hours before hitting up this little French bistro that has a non-smoking bar. Drinking will probably be out of the question for awhile yet.

Congrats Vas & LBP. Just don't go getting hit by a bus now, m'kay?

I still say the focus on detail is part of what makes quitting so 'hard' -- the embiggenment of the problem in yo own damned mind. U need to crush dat reality_tunnel and get with a new one holmes.

Having said that...

2 days, 1 hour, 37 minutes and 44 seconds smoke free.

41 cigarettes not smoked.

$11.00 and 7 hours of your life saved.

I feel pretty fine. Felt kind of light-headed and goofy yesterday and this morning. Could be my cold and/or cold meds though.

Sadly, the loss of tobacco has turned the volume down a little on my beloved espresso. It's a little bit like losing a friend.

dent       03-27-2007, 09:26 am
I say wait until your chest cold passes and then see how you're feeling.

If it's so easy for you, why are you quitting now and not 5 years ago?

JohnLenin       03-27-2007, 10:41 am
^ because if he shows or admits weakness, there's bound to be a mutiny up in here

vasudeva       03-27-2007, 10:49 am
Cause I just like smoking. I quit for several years and started back on it deliberately. I know I should hate it and its effects, but those are all technically theoretical for the moment -- except for the lung capacity difference, which I recall as being remarkable last time I quit. That I'm definitely looking forward to.

I must admit, I don't know jack about having to quit, as I've never been addicted. But, as a once occasional cigar smoker, and now a sometimes occasional pipe smoker, some of the stuffs I've been reading lately make me seriously question doing even those things.

How much does anyone really want this stuff:

"Cigarette smoking causes 87 percent of lung cancer deaths (1). Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women (3). Smoking is also responsible for most cancers of the larynx, oral cavity and pharynx, esophagus, and bladder. In addition, it is a cause of kidney, pancreatic, cervical, and stomach cancers (2, 4), as well as acute myeloid leukemia (2)."

vasudeva       04-04-2007, 05:10 pm
Chest/head/whatever cold and physical addiction passed without issue. There were a couple of brief yearnings on the plane to Puerto Rico; I figure these were stress-related. The LBP ate a shitload of gum on the island for the first couple days. Days 2 and 3 went really shitty in terms of getting where the fuk we needed to be at the proper time, and coincidentally (?) we did some arguing, some of it being rather spectacular in brief passages.

The LBP's quitting was about as easy as mine (plus gum), and the four-flight walkup to our apartment is less winding already.

Now that we're back home in our regular environment, I guess it's time to see how we do with the physical habit part, which I suspect will actually be harder. It's kind of funny to see the self typing and suddenly think of smoking like some dude was ringing a bell.

lilbabypissmouth       04-04-2007, 06:10 pm

Haha. That's a nice way to put it! It dawned on me, late morning of day 3 after said spectaculars, that I was probably so upset and cranky because I quit. Then I was fine and powered through many packs of gum.

I think the worst I've had so far is today, hanging in our house. I fear the quit-smoking-and-gain-twenty-pounds case. I think I need to start running or something cause I cannot stop eating.

I still dream about smoking occasionally. I wake up in a panic and thinking goddammit I’ve got to go through the hell of quitting again. Has anyone noticed how food tastes better or how wonderful the spring weather smells? I was one of the first things that I noticed after I quit.

dragonstaff       04-10-2007, 03:50 am
LBP- I live with those ads on a daily basis, and pictures of that mouth and worse on my cig. packs( at 3" x 1 1/2" in size, front and back ) and I still smoke. Worse, I quit three and a half years ago, stayed off the damn things for fourteen months, and started again. ( Yes, I am an idiot ). (The mouth is done with make-up, by the way ).

vasudeva       04-10-2007, 09:07 am
They have the same cigarette packs in Canada. Endless source of fascination. That wouldn't fly in America.

clavis_apocalypticae       04-10-2007, 10:38 am
Seriously, if you're not using the patch/gum/lozenges/etc, go get some NOW (THIS MEANS YOU). They help immensely.

Each one of them costs about as much as you'd be spending on smoeks anyway, so don't go nuts when you see the $60 pricetag on a box of patches or whatever.

I've tried several brands of patch, and have had the best luck with either the Nicoderm CQ or the Target brand generics (they look and are packaged exactly the same). The Target ones are about half the price of the Nicoderm, and they stick to your skin just as well.

Stay away from Walgreen's' generics; unless you supplement the adhesive on those little round pieces of camel shit with either Gorilla Glue, thumbtacks, or Duct Tape, they aren't sticking to a goddamned thing.

On the Nicoderm/Target ones, you're supposed to stay on the 21mg dose for 6 weeks, then step down to the 14mg. I stepped down to the 14mg after week 4, and I feel great. I still haven't killed anyone.

LORDKAHUNA       04-10-2007, 02:49 pm

Holy shit! I'll have made it two weeks in a few hours. I've shocked the living shit out of myself and am even more furious about staying smoke-free.

Wow, I just realized that this thread has helped a rather large handful of LS users quite smoking. Way to go GJ.

JohnLenin       04-11-2007, 11:34 am
^ Word. I rock like that. However, I'm smoking again. Yay me! 8D

vasudeva       04-11-2007, 12:58 pm
Haha faggot.

LOki       04-12-2007, 11:23 am
I just found out today that I quit smoking too. Yay!

fastlane       04-16-2007, 09:02 pm
I am a weak, weak man. :(

Dumbskull       04-18-2007, 06:24 am
7:00AM EST April 18, 2007 I smoked my last cigarette; I am patching up. I have a little over a months worth of nicoderm patches which should help me get past the major withdrawal symptoms. I hear smokes are over 7 bucks a pack in the Chicago area… it is definitely time to be a quitter.

LORDKAHUNA       04-18-2007, 06:45 am
Tits or gtfo.

Dumbskull       04-18-2007, 07:30 am
How about a nice big cup of STFU instead of your usual extra large cup of coffee this morning.

The tits were posted up for 40 minutes last night.

Missed' em eh?

Not my problem!

LORDKAHUNA       04-18-2007, 08:14 am
I missed your little fade attack.

Wait, it this all over a bewbshot? cause all I have to do is hold yr last pic up to a mirror and jerk it.

I thot it was the real thing :( .

Dumbskull       04-18-2007, 01:48 pm
I suck at being a quitter. I ripped the patch off and had a smoke less than 7 hours after QUITTING!

phlebas       04-20-2007, 10:49 pm
Allright, I'm in this.

I went to the funeral of a 37-year-old Friend on Thursday. He died of Lung Cancer which spread to Bone Cancer. He died within two weeks of diagnosis.

He took up cigars 2 years ago and never smoked before then.

I am 30. I've smoked steadily since 18 and I don't want to die anytime soon. I HAVE TO QUIT.

dent       04-20-2007, 11:39 pm
I want to see these boobies too, even though my vision will abruptly cease to exist shortly afterwards.

(I secretly want to have sex with Dumbskull's butthole)

Dumbskull       04-22-2007, 02:03 pm
I am going to attempt to quit again this next week.

ghostrider       06-25-2007, 05:47 pm
So hows about an update, all you non smokers. How many of you are pathetic recidivists ? I found out my health insurance covers patches and nic gum 100%, so today I picked up about $150 worth of merch on the taxpayers dime (LOL). I need to set a target date. January 3, 2010 looks good on my calender, but I am thinking maybe next week sometime.

I'm still having a bit of problems with cravings even after 4 months. Although, when I get a craving my brain doesn't even know what it's craving anymore, so for the first few seconds I feel all goofy, like somethings about to happen - I tried to explain it to my wife as a feeling of Deja Vu. Anyone else know wtf I'm talking about?

ghostrider       06-25-2007, 06:53 pm
Awesome.

Weight gain ?

All the horror stories involve replacing smokes with food.

I quit a month ago but was reluctant to brag about being a reformed smoking whore so soon.

I do know what you're talking about, I think. It's like a wierd mix of phantom limb and undefined tension?

Amusingly, at times, I would like to smoke, and now can't. On at least two occasions I've been really drunk and someone lit up and I've been like "oh boy, this is gonna fucking rock" and had a drag and it was disappointing. A few weeks ago someone was smoking my brand, finally, and I got a whole one to myself. I felt like some little wizened gollum creature, and I was really looking forward to it, and lit it up, and had to throw it out after two drags. It tasted like shit. Not even good shit, but like wierd bad thin shit, like the smoke straight off the end of the cherry unfiltered. If cigarettes only taste good when you're used to them, how do people start?

Despite the bare facts of the above, I get cravings every so often, odd little jolts of fond muscle memory. I miss smoking... but apparently it sucks.

In any case, the lung capacity upgrade is totally sweet.

lilbabypissmouth       06-25-2007, 08:03 pm
90 days, 2 minutes and 3 seconds smoke free.
1350 cigarettes not smoked.
$371.25 and 10 days, 7 hours of your life saved.

Wow, three whole months. And ten extra pounds. I just can't win.

Anyways, I started pilates about two weeks ago, 20 mins a day. No change that I can see yet except I feel stronger and more cat-like when I move. Also, I'm not nearly as winded as I used to be after a good softball game.

I feel like 20 all over again.

ghostrider       06-25-2007, 08:10 pm
Wow

Lung capacity would be awesome. Pilates sounds like a blast.

I'm in

dent       06-25-2007, 11:10 pm
"Vas - It's like a wierd mix of phantom limb and undefined tension?"

I think we're feeling the same thing.

Right after I eat a meal or drink alcohol, sometimes I'll get this bizarre sensation that I was about to do something extremely important but the thought is gone. I get all tense until I realize that it's a smoke I'm longing for. This feeling (maybe it is a weird phantom limb, tension-y feeling) only lasts maybe 10 seconds before I remember what's going on.

I swear though, it's similar to Deja Vu. When I get that weird sensation at first, I don't really know it's Deja Vu until my mind catches up to itself and says "Hey, Dick, you've experienced this exact situation before".

Yeah, I'm around 220 now. Eek.

I suck at being a quiter!

joeylibjr       06-30-2007, 11:53 am
I've smoked for years. I'm quitting now. The hardest times are after sex or a meal, coffee, drinking, all the 'habitual' moments, but it's weird to see this topic right now.

My reason for chiming in is a doctor told me that nicotine and all the over 400 chemicals in cigarettes stay in the body longer than most drugs because they are inhaled regularly, and the nicotine stained blood soaks every organ and inch of the body much mroe incomparison to the effects other drugs have on people.

If the average dope head comsumed as much heroin as the average smoker smokes (assuming we can come up with a proportionate amount) than there'd be no herion addicts, cause they'd all be dead, and withdrawal from dope would be far worse. He said it would take at least 100 days for a human body to completely purge all nicotine after quitting.

He also said the scarring on the lungs have the ability after a couple years to fade, and then they pinken again, but exercise and healthy eating helps.

Based on this info, I would say withdrawal would last a little bit longer than previously suggested, and I'm bitter because I'm not smoking, so piss off!

Well, those of you at BBP know that I had fallen off the wagon in a BIIIIG way. Three weeks ago, I recommitted myself to quitting. The last time lasted around I quit for 58 days. I had a minor skin reaction to the patch, quit using it, and started smoeking 3 or 4 days later.

I'm on the patch again, and it's as easy as it was last time w/the patch. As long as I wear one, the cravings are few and far between. And they're easy to ignore. I don't care if my arms end up looking leprous, I'm not stopping until I'm done with it.

On a side note, your lungs never get better. Your body adjust to the state your lungs are in. But good luck. I quit for 4 years, than had a bad ending in a relationship. It's like I never quit :(

fuckuall       01-24-2008, 09:17 pm
Having gone through Nursing school and working for a large pharmaceutical company for many years I have heard many quit smoking stories. You can do a lot to repair your lungs and it starts even after just 20 min. Exercise and Vitamin D are the shit. You'll do a shit load of coughing up crap when you exercise but that's a good thing. Man I wish you all luck because it is no where close to easy to quit. Lots of very rich people out there have worked very hard to keep it that way. Google "lung repair after smoking"

This is awesome.

This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.

See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
